They did not linger there.
For countless years before the encroachment of that calamity, the borders of the Main Universe had constantly expanded outward. Only in the last ten thousand years or so, after the calamity unleashed its turmoil, had the Main Universe halted its expansion.
Lynn and the others entered a tributary and traveled upstream.
Unlike the other tributaries, this one led directly into the Main Universe, rather than connecting to one of the black holes that appeared along its borders.
But the moment they crossed the border of the Main Universe,
Lynn saw Clown and Aivier abruptly stop. Their bodies trembled slightly, and the chaos power within them seemed to encounter resistance, showing faint signs of instability.
"Are you two all right?"
Lynn asked at once.
Aivier shook her head. Her gaze remained steady as she resisted the powerful repulsion and said,
"We're fine. Don't worry. The chaos power within us has triggered the Main Universe's rejection response. The stronger a Chaos Being is, the greater the erosion it suffers when it approaches this place. That's also why the Chaos Beings outside haven't managed a large-scale invasion in the two thousand years since the defense line was established."
The Main Universe instinctively resisted the chaos power within them.
It was not just the laws here. Even the matter and energy drifting through the void seemed faintly agitated, reacting to them with rejection.
"You can think of the entire Main Universe as an enormous sphere, with a ring-shaped layer covering its outer surface. Right now, we're on the outer surface of that 'ring.' The deeper we go into it, the stronger the rejection becomes. But if we can break through the 'ring' and enter the inner universe, the rejection will actually weaken considerably."
Aivier explained quietly.
And that ring
