Within a vast space that resembled a library, countless books and sheets of paper hovered in midair, as though each book contained the world's boundless knowledge.
The golden figure stood in the center of the hall, his eyes gazing far into the air.
The dozen or so Corrupted Deities behind him all kept their heads humbly bowed. Without his permission to speak, none dared step out of line.
On the walls.
His figure was reflected in one Wriggling Eyeball after another, as though under eternal surveillance.
"You may leave."
With his back to them, the figure spoke in a voice whose gender could not be discerned.
The God of Knowledge at the front raised his eyes slightly and glanced at the figure's back. The power of chaos and corruption surged within the purple-black cracks crawling across his cheeks.
"My lord, how may we serve you? Before His Majesty the Nightmare King set out, he specifically instructed us to remain at your side at all times and follow your orders."
The figure concealed within the golden light said:
"I need detailed data on the Main Universe's Laws Tide. Also, notify everyone that I will not resume work until the threat has been eliminated."
"I need to be certain this place is absolutely safe."
"Now, leave."
The Corrupted Deities behind him hesitated, but still bowed their heads and said:
"Yes, my lord. We will make the arrangements at once!"
Soon.
Only one person remained in the great hall.
He stood motionless amid the countless floating sheets of paper, as though waiting for someone.
Quietly, traces of golden light emerged within the eyeballs crawling across the walls. Then, as though they were no longer paying attention to this place, they slowly turned in other directions.
Silence fell over the great hall.
"Come out."
