"Eep!!"
But hurried footsteps sounded outside the door again.
Lynn could no longer worry about all that. He hurriedly hauled her up, but this time, the little girl struggled so fiercely that he had to pull with one hand and support her with the other. Just as he pulled her up to the ceiling, their lips happened to meet.
"Eeep!!!"
The little girl's eyes widened almost instantly. As she stared in disbelief at having her first kiss stolen, the fingers curled against Lynn's chest instinctively dug into his shoulder.
What a disaster!
Lynn felt as though countless wild beasts were stampeding through his mind.
But under the circumstances, he had no time to think. He immediately switched off the light, because almost the instant he hauled the girl up, the door was pushed open again.
"Miss!!"
Having heard the noise, the butler rushed in again with a dozen servants.
But there was still nothing in the room.
They immediately spotted their young mistress's nightgown lying on the floor, however. It was her favorite. Did that mean she and the criminal had actually been in this room the whole time?!
Something occurred to the butler. He abruptly raised his head and looked at the ceiling.
Nothing!
They weren't on the ceiling?!
Then where could they have gone?!
The very next moment, his gaze snapped to the open window.
The wind outside blew in with a whoosh.
But he had checked it earlier, and that window had clearly been closed. Did that mean the criminal had abducted their young mistress and escaped through the window just before they came in?!
"Damn it!!"
He rushed to the window, his eyes searching the darkness urgently.
