That commanding, razor-sharp tone perfectly reproduced the pompous mannerisms in the Plague Doctor's memories. The subordinates around him immediately nodded, suspected nothing, and hurried to work.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, Lynn finally surveyed the layout of the Rest Area.
It was roughly the size of a basketball court, with dim lighting that made it feel like the stomach of some enormous creature. The sticky, crimson walls of flesh inflicted a tremendous sense of mental contamination.
Most striking of all was the enormous screen on the opposite wall, which looked like a crystalline lens.
Lynn knew.
This was a flesh-based system, the polar opposite of mechanical technology.
And naturally, Lynn found it deeply familiar.
"Quick! Pick up the pace! Stop dawdling!! If we don't hurry, that Mechanical Maiden will be here any minute, and then we'll all be finished!"
Lynn barked out orders.
"Get moving, all of you!! Move that over here, and this over there!! Handle them gently. If you break the skin, you'll answer to me!"
Lynn slipped perfectly into his role, bellowing as he took up his supervisory duties like a Gestapo officer.
The Plague Doctors around him were drenched in sweat. With Lynn ordering them about, they bustled back and forth without a moment's rest.
They were puzzled, too.
Their commander had never worked this hard before.
Why had he suddenly become so dedicated today? And the orders rolled right off his tongue, as though he were driving livestock.
Still, they didn't dwell on it.
After all, these were extraordinary circumstances. If they didn't hurry and that Mechanical Maiden broke in, they really would all die.
[Ghost-Faced Screechers] were carried over one after another, stacked into little mountains.
Lynn glanced at them, and an information panel immediately appeared before his eyes.
