Whitebeard and Sakazuki resumed their clash as the battle spread across the sea and the Oro Jackson. After Sengoku killed Gaban and Roger was surrounded, Shiki intervened to help Roger reach his ship, while Mike Frank headed toward the battlefield in a growing snow cloud.

Zephyr, Roger, Sengoku, Garp, Kong, Golden Lion, Sakazuki, and Whitebeard fought across the Oro Jackson and the sea battlefield. Golden Lion joined Sakazuki and Whitebeard’s battle as Garp and Kong closed in, and the chapter ended with a massive lion head crashing toward Whitebeard amid Sakazuki’s magma waves.

  • Zephyr killed Sambel by redirecting the Fish-Man Karate strike into his chest, then was driven off the Oro Jackson by Roger’s flying slash and charged back toward the ship.
  • Golden Lion fought Kong and Garp in midair, broke away from them, and flew toward Whitebeard and Sakazuki.
  • Sakazuki attacked Whitebeard with magma dragons and then unleashed Lava Burial, sending enormous waves of magma crashing down on him.

Ch. 76The Great Naval Battle of Sgrily (VI)

Whitebeard and Golden Lion fought Garp, Kong, and Sakazuki, then reunited in the sky and gained Blizzard Frank as an ally. Golden Lion and Sakazuki unleashed enormous attacks against their opponents, leaving the battle raging across the divided fields of snow and magma.

  • Garp struck Whitebeard, breaking several ribs, but Whitebeard countered with a tremor and flew back to Golden Lion.
  • Kong pursued Golden Lion, who fought back with his blades and floating lion heads before Kong drove him into a crater.

On the third day of the battle at Sgrily, Sakazuki devised a trap that let Kong and Garp help him strike Whitebeard with a magma spear. Just as Sakazuki prepared to attack again, the Big Mom Pirates arrived and hit him with a laser.

  • Sakazuki used Life Absorption to recover, then shared meat with Kong and Garp and explained his plan.
  • Sakazuki launched Meteor Volcano, forming the falling Molten Rock Fists into a Haki-coated net around Golden Lion, Whitebeard, and Frank.
  • Kong and Garp rode magma pillars into the sky and engaged Golden Lion, Frank, and Whitebeard, holding Whitebeard in place.

Whitebeard and Sakazuki knocked each other unconscious in a devastating clash as Golden Lion and Garp rescued them. Elsewhere, Charlotte Linlin joined the battle, while Garp's warship turned back toward the Big Mom Pirates and an approaching Marine fleet.

  • Sakazuki's magma spearhead burned through Whitebeard's chest, but Whitebeard shattered it and fought back against Garp and Sakazuki.
  • Whitebeard and Sakazuki exchanged a final clash that produced a massive explosion, leaving both unconscious as Golden Lion and Garp caught them.
  • Rayleigh and Roger continued fighting Sengoku and Zephyr, while Charlotte Linlin arrived and attacked Sengoku before heading toward Golden Lion.
  • Rear Admiral Keane spotted the Big Mom Pirates blocking Garp's warship's escape and ordered the ship to turn back toward them.

Ch. 79Whitebeard's death

During the seventh day of the Battle of Sgrily, the Marines and pirates suffered catastrophic losses as Whitebeard died unleashing a world-shaking attack. Half a year later, Sakazuki woke from his coma at Marine Headquarters Hospital, transformed, and was greeted by Enel.

  • Rear Admiral Keane and the surviving Marines rammed Golden Lion's fleet with Garp's burning warship, then detonated its ammunition magazine, destroying themselves and a pirate vessel.
  • The Marines regrouped on Sakazuki's lava landmass and planned to occupy Charlotte Linlin, Golden Lion, Rayleigh, Frank, and Roger while Fleet Admiral Kong tried to kill Roger.
  • Whitebeard left his sickbed, entrusted Marco to Roger, and unleashed his final attack before dying with a smile.
  • Whitebeard's awakened strike overturned the sky and sea, uprooted islands, and devastated both fleets; the battle's aftermath included the deaths of Whitebeard's crew and thousands of Marines, while Zephyr resigned and Sakazuki fell into a coma.
  • Half a year later, Sakazuki woke at Marine Headquarters Hospital as an ancient, savage aura burst from him, and Enel arrived through the window.

Ch. 80Eni-salino-el

Sakazuki returned to Marineford after six months away, caught up on changes in the Marines and the pirate world, and tested Enel’s training before deciding to guide the Elite Class instead of setting sail. The next day, he departed on patrol with his men and challenged Bullet to spar.

  • Carol reported that the Sgrily Naval Battle had caused heavy losses, Zephyr had resigned as Admiral, Sengoku was missing, and Garp had gone to search for him.
  • Carol told Sakazuki that pirate activity had quieted after Whitebeard’s death and the destruction of much of Golden Lion’s fleet, while several pirate crews recovered and weak nations sought World Government protection.
  • Sakazuki asked Vice Admiral Morris whether Zephyr’s changed beliefs would influence Marine soldiers, and Morris said they would not affect the wider forces.
  • Sakazuki challenged Enel to show his training, then grew furious when Enel mocked him in a flippant imitation of Kizaru; Carol and Morris joined Sakazuki in cornering the boy.
  • Sakazuki postponed his patrol and planned to visit the Marine Headquarters Academy’s Elite Class, where Borsalino had grown stronger after training with him.
