At Lü Yongchang's request, the corner of Shen Siwen's eye twitched again.
A Mars City where 500 million people would live together...
This was no simple task!
Never mind anything else-just look at the former United States' Mars Module.
It had housed only three astronauts, and serious problems had appeared after less than a month on Mars.
According to Lü Yongchang, 500 million people would live in Mars City for several years.
Even with supplies coming in from outside, keeping a Mars City that supported 500 million people stable would be an extraordinarily difficult engineering challenge.
But... the assignment had already been handed down. Could he really refuse?
Shen Siwen sighed silently, instinctively reaching up to touch the few hairs left on his head. "Professor, I'll do my best," he said quietly.
"It's just... there's one more thing I need to request your approval for."
"Go ahead." Lü Yongchang answered without hesitation.
"Professor, I believe we need to launch the gene preservation plan," Shen Siwen said solemnly.
"Not just livestock for food, but genetic material from many essential plants and animals, and even quite a few microbial populations."
"These organisms will be crucial to our future colonization and planetary terraforming plans!"
Lü Yongchang nodded thoughtfully.
He has a point.
Humans can enter Hibernation Chambers for interstellar travel, but we can't exactly set aside a few chambers for all those plants and animals, can we?
Transporting live organisms would consume enormous resources and carry immense risks.
Transporting genetic material was therefore the best option.
As long as they had enough genetic samples, once their technology reached the necessary level, they could recreate an "Earth" after arriving on a habitable planet.
"All right," Lü Yongchang said gravely. "Put together a list of organisms for me over the next few days. I'll assign
