As the third-largest galaxy in the Local Group, the Triangulum Galaxy, with a diameter of 60,000 light-years, had nurtured many civilizations.
The Two-Dimensional Lifeform [Hua], one of the finest among them, had followed the [Outsiders] billions of years ago, stepping onto the [Intergalactic Bridge] and setting out from home.
The so-called [Intergalactic Bridge] was a long "bridge" built from clumps of neutral hydrogen atoms between the Triangulum Galaxy and the Andromeda Galaxy.
The [Intergalactic Bridge] had appeared five billion years ago. Its cause remained unclear, though preliminary speculation attributed it to a high-level civilization. Its purpose was unknown.

The threads were extraordinarily long.
The tangle itself measured an entire light-year across.
If a civilization had examined this tangle of "threads" with detection instruments, they would have been astonished to discover that it possessed neither height nor width.
Length was the only dimension it had.
They would not even have been able to locate the beginning or end of these "threads," as though it were a single fine strand extending infinitely!
An obscure fluctuation arrived from infinitely far away, causing [Thread] to freeze briefly in mid-writhe.
