Everyone present expressed confusion at Lü Yongchang's request.
"Yongchang?"
As the Academy of Sciences' second-in-command, Fang Xu was the first to ask, "Why release this hard-won antimatter?"
"The observation experiments aren't finished yet. If we release all of it, our experiments will stall for a long time."
Quite a few people agreed with Fang Xu.
Lü Yongchang, however, smiled and shook his head. "The data we've collected over the past few days is enough for us to study."
"By the time we finish processing the data we have, a new batch of antihydrogen molecules should be ready."
As he spoke, Lü Yongchang's expression grew more serious. "For one thing, matter-antimatter annihilation on a macroscopic scale is a field we've never explored."
"I want to use it to glimpse what happened at the very beginning of the Big Bang."
"What exactly caused our universe to end up composed of matter?"
At this, everyone in the laboratory was visibly moved.
For scientists, exploring the mysteries of the universe was like a deadly poison, drawing their attention at every moment.
"For another..."
Lü Yongchang paused briefly before continuing, "Although our antihydrogen production is currently extremely inefficient, we still need to lay some groundwork for antimatter applications."
"Antimatter engines, or weapons and equipment built using antimatter, all require data on macroscopic matter-antimatter annihilation as a foundation."
Upon hearing these two reasons, Fang Xu immediately changed his stance and nodded eagerly in agreement.
As for the other researchers?
They had already decided to support Lü Yongchang's approach upon hearing his first reason.
After all, who could resist the allure of probing the origins of the universe?
Of course.
Releasing the antimatter certainly did not mean simply switching off the [Particle Trap] and dumping that precious microgram of antihydrogen molecules outside.
If they really did
