Night had fallen.
As usual, it slowly emerged from the vast canopy formed by those enormous leaves.
The night was long, and it had much to do.
Forage, replenish its water, communicate with its own kind, and reproduce.
Moving its long abdominal legs, it scurried lightly down the trunk.
Along the way, it saw a brilliant light shining in the distance.
Strange...
Wasn't it nighttime now?
Why was there light?
Deep confusion arose in its underdeveloped brain.
It slowed its crawl a little.
There seemed to have been quite a few changes around here lately.
Not only had the glowing orb in the sky disappeared, but moving things had also appeared throughout the forest.
It stopped halfway down the trunk and quietly pondered.
A few minutes passed.
Having reached no conclusion, it chose to follow its instincts, moving its long abdominal legs as it crawled toward the ground.
Soon, it reached the soft soil.
It lowered its head, ready to take a bite of its "tender, juicy" food.
Suddenly, a faint tremor rose from beneath its feet.
Fear etched deep into its genes surged forth!
It darted forward, dodging a root that burst out of the ground!
How could this happen?!
Nighttime was supposed to be safe!
As it fled at full speed, it tried to work out the reason.
As more and more roots appeared, others of its kind began fleeing frantically around it!
Run! Run! Run!
It no longer had time to consider the cause and could only surge forward with the crowd!
Suddenly, a bright spot of light appeared before its eyes.
It could clearly see that there was no forest and no roots where the light shone!
Although light meant danger, the absence of forest and roots alone was enough to draw it in!
