Yu Nian had perfectly good hands, yet he still let Qin Yuheng feed him every last wonton. Qin Yuheng did so without complaint, listening to his jokes and banter as he fed him.
By the time Bian Yan arrived with things for his visit, the neighboring bed was already empty.
What he hadn't expected was to walk in and see Qin Yuheng holding Yu Nian's hand. The two were chatting, and Yu Nian was smiling.
Bian Yan froze for a moment, then gave a light cough.
When they saw him, they gently let go of each other's hands. Yu Nian gave him a guilty smile.
Bian Yan walked over with his usual expression and set down the insulated food container.
"Feeling any better? My mom made you some old duck soup."
Soup like that must have taken a long time to simmer. Yu Nian said, "Thank your mom for me."
Bian Yan took two small bowls from the bag and poured Qin Yuheng a serving too. "Have some too, Brother Yu. Thanks for looking after him all night."
Qin Yuheng nodded. "Thank you."
Worried that Qin Yuheng had barely rested, Yu Nian was ready to send him home as soon as he finished his soup. "Brother Yu, go home and get some rest. I'm much better now."
But Qin Yuheng only wanted to stay with him. "No need. I'm not tired."
Bian Yan helped persuade him. "Brother Yu, I'll look after him here. Go get some rest. Doesn't he need another IV later? You can come back once you've rested, and Yu Nian won't have to worry."
Yu Nian looked at Qin Yuheng, nodding vigorously and blinking up at him.
After much persuasion, Qin Yuheng finally left. Bian Yan immediately began his interrogation. "When did you two get together? Spill!"
