"Avoiding you?" Pei Yang's hand had grown tired from covering his forehead, and he slowly lowered it. "So many people would love to meet Director Feng and never get the chance. With luck like mine, why would I avoid you?"

Feng Wanting's gaze traveled from Pei Yang's beautiful eyes to his smooth forehead-though it was no longer smooth. A lump had risen there, its edges fading into shades of bruising. Ignoring Pei Yang's sarcastic tone, he reached out and touched the angry red swelling.

Pei Yang hissed in pain. "What are you doing?"

"How did this happen?" Feng Wanting asked.

How did it happen? From avoiding you.

Pei Yang's attitude was terrible. "No need to concern yourself, Director Feng."

Feng Wanting frowned, not quite understanding why Pei Yang's words had suddenly become so cutting, and tightened his grip on his arm.

It was quitting time, and the two of them tugging at each other by the elevators drew repeated backward glances. Some people recognized Feng Wanting but hesitated to come over and greet him with Pei Yang standing beside him.

Pei Yang felt uncomfortable all over. His Adam's apple bobbed, and his temper flared. "Director Feng, I transferred the money to you. You're the one who refused to accept it. As far as things between us go, I can honestly say I've done everything I should. Why won't you stop pestering me?"

"I'm... pestering you?" Feng Wanting tightened his hold on Pei Yang's wrist.

Adored all his life, Feng Wanting had never met anyone like Pei Yang before. He left Feng Wanting's chest tight and breathless, yet Feng Wanting was helpless against him and couldn't bear to direct his anger at him.

"Let's not talk about that right now." Feng Wanting turned, pulling Pei Yang along, and forcibly ushered him into the Executive Elevator.

Pei Yang watched the elevator doors close. "Where are we going?"

Expressionless, Feng Wanting pressed the button for his office floor.

"Feng Wanting...!" Pei Yang called out.

"Your forehead needs icing." Feng Wanting released Pei Yang's wrist and slipped his hand into his suit pocket.

The chairman's Executive Elevator was several times more luxurious than the ordinary staff elevators. Its four walls resembled upright diamond prisms, and the doors' mirrored finish was sharp enough to show the curve of a trembling eyelash. Only then did Pei Yang realize how badly his forehead had swollen.

Standing behind Feng Wanting, he could see Feng Wanting's dark, displeased expression reflected in the elevator doors.

"I can ice it myself when I get home."

"Floor forty-six. Arriving."

Pei Yang's voice overlapped with the announcement as the doors opened. Without so much as looking at him, Feng Wanting strode out of the elevator, his voice sullen. "Suit yourself whether you follow me."

Even Pei Yang could tell that Feng Wanting was angry, but he hadn't said anything wrong. Feng Wanting kept entangling himself with him without defining their relationship, while ordering male models at clubs and lusting after Yin Sufang. He certainly kept busy. Their one-night stand... no, their two-night stand had ended ages ago. Why couldn't Feng Wanting just treat him like a stranger?

"Then I'll suit myself," Pei Yang said petulantly, reaching for the first-floor button.

With a beep, the control panel on the elevator's right scanned his face and issued a cold, mechanical response: "Access denied."

Pei Yang: "?"

Fuck.

Pei Yang laughed in exasperation and could only "reluctantly" follow Feng Wanting.

Once inside the Chairman's Office, Feng Wanting turned his back to Pei Yang and took off his suit jacket. Underneath, he wore a matching black waistcoat, with sleeve garters circling his strong arms and accentuating his perfect proportions. Pei Yang watched him take a chilled can of beer from the refrigerator and point at the sofa. "Sit."

Pei Yang sat down apprehensively. Lost in thought, he took a long moment to register the sofa dipping beside him. Feng Wanting sat at his side, lifted his chin, and pressed the icy beer can against his forehead.

"Hiss..."

Pei Yang was in so much pain that tears nearly sprang to his eyes. He made a request. "Can I do it myself?"

Feng Wanting pressed harder, as though punishing him. "No."

Pei Yang bit his lower lip and lowered his eyes, enduring the beer can rolling back and forth across his forehead.

Feng Wanting kept his hand moving, but his mind had already wandered. Without realizing it, his gaze drifted from Pei Yang's forehead to the tip of his nose, then from his nose to his lips. His lips resembled two full petals, slightly indented at the center, their crimson hue blending naturally into his cool, pale skin.

Feng Wanting would probably never forget how it felt to kiss Pei Yang. The instant his lips pressed down, it was like a feather gently touching the surface of water, stirring a faint electric current through his body that tingled all the way from his lower abdomen to his spine.

...I really want to kiss him again.

But thinking about it carefully, Pei Yang had initiated every kiss between them. Feng Wanting wasn't sure what sort of mood they needed to be in before they could kiss. Would now be okay?

Forget it. He was afraid Pei Yang would punch him.

It's so unfair. Why can Pei Yang kiss me, but I can't kiss him?

"I-is that enough?" Pei Yang's entire forehead had turned icy, and he felt as though his brain was about to freeze. He gave Feng Wanting's arm a tentative push.

"Don't move. A little longer." Feng Wanting's tone left no room for argument.

Pei Yang briefly closed his eyes.

This is revenge. Plain and simple.

He truly regretted trading barbs with Feng Wanting. Back when he worked at the branch office, Feng Wanting couldn't reach him, no matter how far his influence extended. But now he worked at Headquarters, which more or less meant working right under Feng Wanting's nose. As a senior executive at FK, wouldn't making his life miserable and putting obstacles in his way be child's play for Feng Wanting?

For the sake of a smoother life at Headquarters from now on, Pei Yang sighed and said, "Director Feng, there's something I need to apologize to you for."

"What, you finally realize you were wrong?" The corners of Feng Wanting's mouth lifted slightly.

"Yes," Pei Yang said earnestly. "I ruined your chance that day at the Guhan Exhibition. I owe you an apology."

"..." Feng Wanting looked utterly bewildered. "What?"

"Weren't you trying to add Yin Sufang on WeChat?" Pei Yang said, averting his eyes. "You nearly had him, but my arrow got in the way. If you'd like, I can share his WeChat contact with you right now."

"Who is Yin Sufang?" Feng Wanting asked, his face darkening.

"Who is Yin Sufang?" Pei Yang repeated in astonishment. His expression shifted so dramatically that it pulled at the swelling on his forehead, making one side of his face twitch with pain. "How many people did you ask for their WeChat that day in the exhibition hall? Enough to forget Yin Sufang?"

"Oh," Feng Wanting said casually. "I remember now."

Pei Yang moved to take out his phone. "I'll send you his WeChat right now, along with the money involved between us. Accept it while I'm here."

Pei Yang's hand had barely reached his pocket when Feng Wanting stopped him from going any further, his gaze lowered. "Do you know why I didn't go ahead and add him on WeChat?"

"I'm not particularly interested," Pei Yang replied coldly.

"Because I thought you were jealous." Feng Wanting didn't care whether Pei Yang wanted to know. His lips curved, and he blurted out, "And even now, your reaction still makes me think you're jealous."
