The voice sent goosebumps crawling over Pei Yang's skin. He felt as if an icy chill were creeping up his spine. He turned his head stiffly. Behind him, a woman gripped his clothes with one hand and braced the other on her knee. Her long hair cascaded down like a waterfall, completely hiding her face. There was something indescribably eerie about her.
"Aaaaah-a ghost!" Gu Xin screamed for Pei Yang.
"What ghost?" Lu Yu straightened up and tossed her beautiful long hair behind her, sending it sweeping through the air and revealing a pretty, delicate face.
The Red-Dress Woman!
Pei Yang recognized her instantly, his pupils contracting.
"Whoa, miss, you're so pretty! Why would you pretend to be a ghost and scare people?" Gu Xin planted both hands on his hips, the terror still lingering on his face.
Lu Yu casually wiped the sweat from her forehead with her arm and gave a slightly weary smile. "I'm just tired. Try looking for someone while avoiding someone else, running madly up and down all six floors of this place."
Lu Yu smiled bitterly to herself. Looking for Pei Yang while hiding from Feng Wanting-did anyone think she had it easy?
Standing to one side and listening to Lu Yu and Gu Xin's conversation, Pei Yang dreamed up a hundred-episode melodrama packed with twists and turns. What did the Red-Dress Woman want with him? Had she found out about him and Feng Wanting? Had one of Feng Wanting's harem come to give him trouble?
Was her next line going to be, "Name your price and leave Feng Wanting"?
"I have something to do. I'll be going." If he couldn't avoid her, surely he could escape?
Feeling guilty, Pei Yang turned to leave.
Onstage, pounding music and energetic dancing set the crowd ablaze.
