The three headed deeper into the complex cave system. Su Miu and Ailin had been chatting through a mental link the entire time, while Mu Ningxue alone kept watch over their surroundings. Seeing the other two remain silent, she assumed something was wrong nearby.
In truth, Ailin had simply forgotten to set up a chat channel for her too, having gotten carried away talking to Su Miu.
The underground area they were in was like a maze, twisting and turning endlessly. Along the way, however, Su Miu carved arrow markings to keep them from getting lost.
"Hm?"
Just then, Su Miu's Spiritual Power picked up a group ahead that seemed to be under attack. The fluctuations of Magic Energy were intense.

Mu Ningxue immediately asked what was happening, and he motioned for them to follow. The three hurried through the passages into a fairly open area.

A scream rang out, and the three saw a ferocious Demon Beast sever a contestant's limbs with its sharp spider legs, then wrap his body in silk and hoist him upward.
Sensing the spider Demon Beast's powerful aura, both Ailin and Mu Ningxue paled.
The reek of blood washed over them. Blood spattered the ground, while another spider gnawed on the severed limbs.
The two spider Demon Beasts were enormous, their bodies shaped like brown crabs. Their eight legs radiated an edge so sharp they seemed capable of slicing through anything.
Even more horrifying, each spider had a hideous human face! These were creatures at the very peak of the commander level.
