Inside Lin Mo's Sea of Consciousness.
A fragment of Electrolux's Divine Sense floated within the rather featureless Sea of Consciousness.
"Who... are you?"
Lin Mo feigned hostility as he asked, but inwardly, he felt neither nervous nor excited, only an inexplicable worry.
Although he, too, longed to grow stronger, he already knew that his Martial Soul was no ordinary one, which meant he had his own path of growth.
Although Electrolux was someone he deeply respected, this opportunity should originally have belonged to the protagonist-who was now his younger sister.
If he ended up stealing this tremendous opportunity from her, he worried that it might hold back Huo Yuyao's future development.
When he had first transmigrated to the Douluo Continent, he had indeed thought about skimming off some of the protagonist's opportunities to make himself stronger.
But after three years together, familial love had finally triumphed over those unrealistic fantasies. Rather than reaching the pinnacle of the world himself, he wanted the sweet, innocent girl beside him to possess the same strength she had in the original story and break free of her shackles.
"My name is Electrolux. That is all I remember."
"Um, then may I ask, Elder Yi... may I call you that? Why did you enter my body?"
Lin Mo set everything else aside and simply kept asking curious questions.
Electrolux let out a long sigh, seemingly lost in thought. Unlike in the original story, the fragment of his Divine Sense had not turned into a black bead, nor was it nearly as badly damaged.
Lin Mo guessed that this might be because they had arrived a full two years earlier.
"It seems to have been the desire for revenge deep within both your hearts. That emotion drew me here. As for why I entered your Sea of Consciousness rather than that girl's, it was probably because of your soul."
Electrolux paused after every sentence, speaking very slowly.
"My soul?"
"Indeed. Your soul is more substantial-or perhaps stronger. Or perhaps there is something within it that feels similar to mine. That is why I was involuntarily drawn into your Sea of Consciousness."
"So that's how it is."
Standing within his Sea of Consciousness, Lin Mo sank into thought.
"Rest assured, little one. This old man means you no harm. However, in my current state, it would be difficult for me to leave your body."
"Oh, that's all right. Just get some proper rest, Elder Yi. If there's anything this junior can do for you, please tell me."
"There is no need. Your spiritual power and soul energy are unlike those of ordinary people, enough to let me recover steadily. In return, once I gradually recover, I will help you as well."
"Then let me thank you in advance, Elder Yi. My younger sister seems to have finished. I'll go out and check on her."
Lin Mo opened his eyes again. The gray aura that had dispersed outside his body gradually gathered into his Sea of Consciousness, where the fragment of Electrolux's Divine Sense also settled into an extremely stable state.
It looks like coming early really did help. Elder Yi's Divine Sense fragment isn't nearly as badly damaged as it was in the original story. He can even remember his name clearly. Maybe he'll recover his memories faster.
As he opened his eyes, Huo Yuyao also finished absorbing her ring. Having absorbed her first Soul Ring, the girl had grown a centimeter or two taller. Her skin had become fairer, and her features had grown even cuter.
However, her face was filled with worry as she hurried over to Lin Mo.
"Brother Xiao Mo!"
"Brother Xiao Mo, are you all right? What happened? Do you feel unwell anywhere? Does it hurt?"
The moment he opened his eyes, he saw a little girl bouncing around him, checking his temperature, gently patting him, and circling him with concern written all over her face.
Seizing his chance, Lin Mo gently placed his hand on Huo Yuyao's head.
"Don't worry, I'm fine. As for what just came inside..."
Over the next little while, he gave Huo Yuyao and the Sky Dream Ice Silkworm a rough explanation of Electrolux's situation.
"So he really is a deity? Only, a dead one."
"So that old grandpa isn't from our world? How amazing! There are other people beyond this world."
The two focused on completely different things.
"In short, that old man doesn't bear you any ill will right now, correct? Still, you'd better be careful."
The Sky Dream Ice Silkworm spoke to him solemnly.
"Thank you for your concern, Sister Tian Meng."
Lin Mo smiled as he thanked him.
"Tsk, get this straight. I'm not concerned because of you. It's because you're little Yuyao's older brother. If anything happened to you, this little one would never get back on her feet."
The Sky Dream Ice Silkworm clicked his tongue, turned his head away, and hurried to explain. Judging by his expression, though, he rather enjoyed being thanked.
At that moment, he appeared beside them as a humanoid spiritual manifestation, unlike the little boy with pale yellow hair and hooded pajamas in the original story.
What appeared before Lin Mo now was a cute girl with pale yellow hair tied into two little buns, wearing pajamas but no hood.
"Sister Tian Meng, quick, spit three times! Don't say something so unlucky. Nothing's going to happen to Brother Xiao Mo."
Huo Yuyao pouted, sounding rather unhappy.
"All right, little imp, it's fine. Come show us your Soul Skills. Sister Tian Meng is a million-year soul beast, after all. According to the books, soul beasts of ten thousand years or less grant a Soul Master one Soul Skill. A hundred-thousand-year soul beast grants two. As for a million-year one, I've honestly never heard of it."
Seemingly pleased that the conversation had turned to him, the Sky Dream Ice Silkworm proudly raised his head.
"As your million-year soul beast big sister, I gave little Yuyao a whole four Soul Skills."
He then launched into an unending explanation of how powerful the four Soul Skills were. Lin Mo pretended to listen with great interest, though he already knew all of this.
After experiencing Huo Yuyao's Soul Skills for himself, Lin Mo finally understood why the people in the original story had said that possessing this skill could truly change the outcome of over ninety percent of battles.
"This is incredible. It's practically a god's-eye view. You can detect every trace and clue within fifty meters."
Hearing her older brother praise her Soul Skill, Huo Yuyao giggled.
"All right, stop grinning like a fool. Speaking of which, boy, you haven't shown us your Soul Skill yet, have you? Release it and let me see. Through little Yuyao's memories, I've already seen how you obtained that special Soul Ring."
Lin Mo was not annoyed by his tone and naturally summoned his Martial Soul.
An ancient-looking longsword flew out and slipped straight into his palm. The moment he gently gripped its hilt, light flashed beneath his feet, and a silvery-white Soul Ring appeared beside him.
Noticing the silvery-white Soul Ring, the Sky Dream Ice Silkworm frowned slightly.
"Hiss... what in the world is this thing? How come I've never seen it before? A ten-year soul ring is white, but this is far too clear and bright. And those aren't Soul Ring patterns, either."
As he pondered, the Sky Dream Ice Silkworm flew around Lin Mo, even passing through his Mystic Sword.
Huo Yuyao seemed to catch his curiosity and began circling Lin Mo as well, occasionally reaching out to touch the Soul Ring.
