Joining the God-Making Plan

Tian Meng draws the Ice Empress out in the Far North by openly announcing his return. She initially threatens to eat him and reacts furiously to his declaration that he will become her mate. He persuades her to consider a path to godhood through Zhang Lan, whose achievement of level twenty at seven years old—and ability to withstand the Far North independently—gives the proposal credibility 2.

She agrees to become Zhang Lan's second Martial Soul. Before that arrangement is carried out, Zhang Lan offers information about ten-thousand-year Profound Ice Marrow that could help the Snow Empress survive her approaching tribulation. The Ice Empress warns that the God-Making Plan will end if his claim proves false 2 3.

Alarmed by Zhang Lan's suggestion that the Snow Empress might have attempted human reincarnation and been captured, she carries him to the Snow Empress's secluded canyon. There, they discover that the Snow Empress's attempt to form a second Soul Core has failed. The Ice Empress presents both the marrow lead and Tian Meng's plan, explaining that she is gambling on the human he chose because she trusts Tian Meng 3 4.

Dragon City and the Profound Ice Marrow

The Ice Empress accompanies Zhang Lan and the Snow Empress to Dragon City in human form. During negotiations with Nan Shuishui, she briefly releases Titled Douluo-level pressure, demonstrating the strength behind their offer to protect the Earth Dragon Sect 4 5.

Inside the Cold Spring Secret Realm, she counts fifty-nine pieces of ten-thousand-year Profound Ice Marrow. She uses Ultimate Ice to cut pieces free while the Snow Empress stabilizes the chilling energy, preserving the ice pillars' foundations 6 7.

At the Heavenly Dragon Sect's encampment, she identifies a blood-colored formation as an Evil Soul Master's work fueled by living people's Soul Power. She then battles Nether Thunder Douluo, whose Level 9 bronze mirror amplifies his lightning and reflects incoming attacks. As the fight threatens to expose more of her Soul Beast traits to Dragon City, the Snow Empress intervenes and kills him. The Ice Empress responds with a curt “Busybody” 8 9.

Return North and Heavenly Tribulation

On the journey north, the Ice Empress helps uncover an ancient Annihilation Rouge Dragon skeleton and compresses it into a torso bone. Zhang Lan later gives the bone to Nan Shuishui for Nan Qiuqiu before announcing the founding of Anti-Entropy 12 13.

Back in the Far North, she selects an ice cliff with dense Soul Power and builds a sealed chamber for cultivation with the Profound Ice Marrow. Xiao Bai guards both Empresses during their year of seclusion 14 15.

When her four-hundred-thousand-year tribulation approaches, she rushes several miles south to prevent its aftermath from disturbing the Snow Empress's critical cultivation. She withstands the purple lightning barrage and returns with only a torn dress and a shallow facial wound, which heals within a few breaths. When the Snow Empress's much stronger tribulation begins, she moves Zhang Lan and Xiao Bai farther away 16 17.

Sunset Forest and the First Soul Spirit

Although reluctant to leave her territory immediately after her breakthrough, the Ice Empress accompanies Zhang Lan and the Snow Empress to Sunset Forest. She recognizes that the orderly arrangement of poisonous flowers around the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well is artificial and condemns whoever displaced or killed the forest's older Soul Beasts 18 19.

While Zhang Lan explores the well, she waits at the shore and declares that she will retrieve him if he cannot return. His eventual second Martial Soul is Spirit Blade: Frozen Naraka, formed through the Ice Dragon King's power rather than through the Ice Empress. She remains his companion and reacts with envy to its powerful first Soul Skill 22 23 24.

In Star Dou Great Forest, she immediately moves to protect Zhang Lan when Electrolux manifests. After Zhang Lan identifies him as an ally, she reluctantly lowers her weapon. She then communicates with the dying Eight Desolate Rock Lizard, relaying the terms of Electrolux's soul spirit contract and its willingness to accept, helping make the first successful contract possible 25 26.

Zhang Lan's Departure

During Zhang Lan's subsequent five years of cultivation, his test of Eight Desolate Dragonfall destroys half an ice cliff. Furious, the Ice Empress chases him for three li, after which he stops testing his Soul Skills in the Far North 27.

When he prepares to attend Shrek Academy, she explains that she and the Snow Empress cannot accompany him: the Limit Douluo stationed in Shrek City would detect their Soul Beast identities. After the Snow Empress gives him a protective necklace, the Ice Empress follows her deeper into the ice cliffs 27.

The Ice Empress is proud, impatient, and blunt. She dismisses Tian Meng as a worm who only eats and sleeps, threatens Zhang Lan when he makes an unproven promise, and warns him not to prolong their business in Dragon City. Even after the Snow Empress intervenes in her battle, she expresses irritation rather than gratitude 2 5 9.

Her concern for others is more apparent in her actions than her words. She urgently checks on the Snow Empress, keeps her own tribulation away from the Snow Empress's chamber, and positions herself to rescue or defend Zhang Lan despite an outwardly indifferent manner 3 17 22 25.

She is observant enough to question Zhang Lan's negotiating strategy and recognize deliberately planted poison flowers. Over time, she becomes accustomed to his habit of planning several steps ahead.
