"You said just now that the beasts refused to enter into soul contracts with you?" Yu Lin Bloodhawk asked.

"Yes!" the mage said.

"If they refuse, then force them to agree!" Yu Lin Bloodhawk said.

"You mean enslave the beasts? That won't do us any good! What we need is a soul link. Only by experiencing the exact state of being linked to a beast ourselves can we better develop skills derived from it. Otherwise, working from theory alone is simply too difficult," the mage said.

"Not enslavement. I mean getting you to establish soul links with beasts," Yu Lin Bloodhawk said. "There's an ancient method of training hawks you could try, if you're willing. As it happens, I still have a few giant owls at Sunsail Archorage. But this method is crude and exhausting. I'm afraid you might not be able to take it."

Yu Lin Bloodhawk whistled, and the owl playing in the woods flew back to his arm.

"This one is a giant owl, brought over from Night Elf territory in Kalimdor," Yu Lin Bloodhawk said.

After looking at the owl, the mages crowded around to ask how to train one, and Yu Lin Bloodhawk explained the method. Some hesitated, while others nodded in agreement.

"If you're worried, I have a few human subordinates. We can let them try first. But they can't use magic and don't have any magical talent whatsoever, so I wonder whether you have a way to help them establish soul links after they tame the beasts?" Yu Lin Bloodhawk himself had little confidence in such a far-fetched idea.

Didn't even the Undead get to be hunters later on? Yu Lin Bloodhawk thought. *That really was bullshit, though. Blizzard probably bent over backward and tied itself in knots trying to balance player numbers
