"Y-you mean you're going to give us battle pets?" Sana asked, delighted.
"They aren't anything particularly good, but we don't have much choice right now. They should be fine for transporting supplies. They're just picky eaters with enormous appetites," Yu Lin Bloodhawk said.
"W-what kind of battle pets?" Sana asked, both pleased and a little worried, afraid they would be a bunch of useless creatures.
"Raptors. They aren't much use. Not only are they picky eaters, but they eat a lot, too. They aren't very suitable as military battle pets-even worse than dire wolves!" Yu Lin Bloodhawk said. "Dire wolves can at least stand guard, search, and track. With these things, aside from eating, all we can do is see whether they can carry supplies. At least those two legs of theirs are much bigger than a hawkstrider's."
Sana was delighted and hurried off to find a map.
He disagreed with Yu Lin Bloodhawk. He considered raptors powerful beasts, far stronger than pigs or wolves, and even more formidable than lynxes. He found the map quickly. Since they were leaving tomorrow, the map of the Wetlands had been placed somewhere easy to find. Taking it, he hurried back excitedly and handed it to Yu Lin Bloodhawk.
Yu Lin Bloodhawk studied the map for a while, then drew two large red circles with a pen: one near the coast in the northeastern corner, and another a little below the northern edge. Then he summoned twenty Gryphon Riders and ordered them to take a map each and scout the two locations separately.
Pointing to one of the circles, he said, "This is a Quarry. It should be easy to identify. Go and return as quickly as you can. Once you've determined the approximate area, come back and report."
