"I have no soldiers to train. You didn't win, so I won't train your elves or humans either!" the Death Knight said, spreading his hands.
"I captured a few of your orcs. I can provide you with the ten strongest prisoners. I can give you four years, if you've already figured out how to train them." Yu Lin Bloodhawk took a sip of juice.
"Aren't you afraid I'll lead them in a revolt?" the Death Knight asked, puzzled.
"Of course I am! That's why I'll assign some elves to watch you," Yu Lin Bloodhawk said with a chuckle.
"You're cunning," the Death Knight sneered. "That way, whether you win or lose the bet, you'll get your hands on a proper training method, won't you?"
"More or less!" Yu Lin Bloodhawk nodded. "But you don't have many options. We High Elves have quite a few learned old mages who are very interested in this energy of yours from the realm of death. They're eager to research the subject, too.
"So you have two choices. First, you do the research and experiment on others. Second, others research you and use you for their experiments. You're free to choose either."
Yu Lin Bloodhawk sipped his juice and smiled. "Don't imagine death will solve all your problems. This world might be short on other things, but there's certainly no shortage of people who toy with souls. Aren't you one of them? I imagine you know much better than I do what it feels like to have someone toy with your soul. You warlocks aren't the only ones who can do that."
Yu Lin Bloodhawk's smile made him look like a demon.
The Death Knight shuddered. Being skilled at toying with other people's souls didn't mean he was willing to let others toy with his.
