"Let's go look at the traces left behind at the Bloodsail Buccaneers' camp." Yu Lin Bloodhawk dropped his pen and left the cabin with Sylvanas. Although the Gryphon Riders' scouting reports were fairly detailed, he still wanted to see the place for himself. After all, the reports differed so much from what he remembered that he could not rest easy without taking a look.
Sylvanas wanted to see it herself, so she raised no objection. They each mounted a gryphon and, escorted by a squad of Gryphon Riders, flew to the site where the traces of the Bloodsail Buccaneers' camp had been discovered.
The Bloodsail Buccaneers had left plenty of traces behind. The number of tent-peg holes, along with the size and number of the old campfire ash piles, made it possible to roughly estimate how many pirates had regularly been stationed there and how large the camp had been.
Yu Lin Bloodhawk and Sylvanas walked along the shore, checking the number of mooring posts. Galleons could not dock somewhere like this without a deepwater harbor, so people had to travel between ship and shore in small boats. Examining the number of posts and their wear would give them a rough picture of everyday activity here. More posts meant more boats coming and going, while the degree of wear indicated how long the posts had been there and how often they had been used.
"Looks like this pirate camp was here for quite a while!" Yu Lin Bloodhawk said, looking at the last mooring post.
"It certainly does," Sylvanas said. "They clearly evacuated in a hurry. They didn't even have time to dispose of much of their rubbish."
Sylvanas was referring to the rubbish scattered everywhere. Its distribution and freshness made it easy enough to judge roughly when they had
