"Just because I knew Wang Dongliang was dead, you said I was behind it?" Zhao Xun put on an appropriately angry expression. "I heard Wang Dongliang died onstage in front of everyone, and I only just got back. How could I have done anything?"
Both burly men froze.
They exchanged a glance and had to admit Zhao Xun had a point.
"Besides, I only dared come back because I heard Wang Dongliang was dead. With him gone, I don't have to worry about being locked in the Underground Chamber again." Zhao Xun shrugged. "If I'd really killed him, why would I come back? Wouldn't it make more sense to run as far away as possible?"
The two burly men exchanged another glance without saying anything.
They both felt Zhao Xun was right, and their aggression faded considerably.
After a moment of silence, Burly Man A asked Zhao Xun, "Then how exactly did you escape from the cage?"
"I can pick locks," Zhao Xun improvised without hesitation. "But if I'd escaped during the day, you would've spotted me easily, so I waited until night to pick the lock and run."
"I don't remember you knowing how to pick locks," Burly Man B said skeptically.
"Do you know me that well?" Zhao Xun looked at Burly Man B. "Would I show you everything I can do?"
Burly Man B choked on his words.
"Besides, I get locked up all the time. Isn't it perfectly normal for me to secretly learn lockpicking to protect myself?" Zhao Xun added.
Although he had no memories whatsoever of his character's earlier experiences in this game, judging by what Wang Dongliang, Wang Ling'er, and Liao Ming had said, his character had certainly been locked up more than once or twice.
There was nothing wrong with that explanation.
