Xu Taiping looked at the map in the phantom image before him and asked with a hint of surprise:
"Is that where the Demon Mother is hiding?"
Beside him, the veteran general Song Yan nodded.
"Indeed."
He immediately explained to Xu Taiping:
"Yeyuan City is actually where the Demon Mother first came into being in Shangqing. Before she awakened, the Abyss Power spilling from her body formed nine Demon Abysses, which stretched toward the various regions of the Shangqing Realm like the roots of a towering tree."
"And the Nine Primordial Lords born of the Nine Abysses joined forces to build Yeyuan City to protect the Demon Mother."
"Later, when the Flame Emperor sealed the Demon Mother, he directly opened up a world and sealed both her and Yeyuan City within it."
"And that world was the predecessor of this Heaven-Demon Battlefield."
Understanding dawned on Xu Taiping's face, and he nodded.
"So that's how it happened."
Song Yan pointed at the map again, then said solemnly:
"According to the intelligence just received from the armies of the four directions, they will advance along four routes and attack Yeyuan City together."
"Our Demon-Slaying Army need not rush to march this time. We can conserve our strength in the rear, then send our troops to join them once they reach the walls of Yeyuan City."
Xu Taiping carefully studied the map and the passes marked along the routes to Yeyuan City, then frowned.
"There are still at least three million troops of the Nine Abysses Great Army guarding the passes throughout the Demon Domains. Will the armies of the four directions alone be enough?"
Song Yan shook his head and explained gravely:
