It was him!
Bibi Dong's heart jolted.
Was this child connected to the Worship Hall?
"..."
For a hundred li around, the air froze into ice. Bibi Dong pressed her lips together, her brow lowering slightly as a faint chill flickered through her pale purple eyes.
She handed Hu Liena to Yue Guan and Gui Mei behind her, then jumped down to seek the answers she wanted.
"Light Feather Douluo."
To encounter one of the seven great enshrined, who rarely left their quarters, anywhere outside the Worship Hall-Bibi Dong was far too perceptive not to realize how important Tang Yue was to Guang Ling.
But when had this child appeared in Spirit Hall? How had she known nothing about it?
"Hmph."
Her lips curved slightly. Bibi Dong decided to probe Guang Ling a little further. She slowly approached Light Feather Douluo, who held Tang Yue in his arms, each step crushing the ice and snow beneath her feet.
"Get lost."
While she was still a hundred meters from him and Tang Yue, Guang Ling raised his eyes indifferently. There was no warmth in his gaze, and anger simmered beneath his clear voice.
"If you dare take another step toward Xiao Yue'er, I'll knock you straight back to the Saintess Hall without mercy! Whether my eldest brother chooses to beat me or punish me afterward, I'll accept it!"
The temperature kept dropping. Bibi Dong's lips parted, and her long legs stopped in an instant. Her deep, alluring purple eyes trembled as a massive dark blue arrow appeared behind her. It radiated a biting chill, and within barely a quarter of an hour, frost formed on her cheeks.
"Your Holiness!" Yue Guan and Gui Mei cried in unison. Holding Hu Liena, Gui Mei wanted to step forward and help, but Yue Guan stopped him. Before either could speak, a frost-covered arrow suddenly rose before them. Though much smaller than the one behind Bibi Dong, it still left both men afraid to make a rash move, especially Gui Mei with Hu Liena in his arms.
It seemed he really was angry.
Bibi Dong frowned, but did not dare move.
She was no match for Guang Ling yet. Besides, they were in Spirit Hall. If a fight truly broke out, her time as Supreme Pontiff would be over.
The grass on Qian Xunji's grave had barely grown tall. How could she leave the stage so easily? It was only a step back. Only those who could bend and straighten could accomplish great things.
"Fifth Enshrined, I was discourteous."
Bibi Dong spoke and lowered her head slightly, acknowledging her fault.
"..."
After examining Tang Yue's condition and finding nothing seriously wrong, Guang Ling had no intention of making things difficult for Bibi Dong. He rose with Tang Yue in his arms, spread his Ice Wings, and flew toward the Worship Hall without a word.
Only after the cold dispersed did Bibi Dong slowly raise her head. Watching the traces the Ice Wings had left in the air, she etched today's incident into her memory.
Night fell. Countless stars filled the sky, and a bright moon hung overhead.
Inside Guang Ling Hall, Jiang Mo's curses rang through the entire building. He had only just emerged from seclusion when he heard that Bibi Dong had bullied Tang Yue. If his older brother, Qian Jun Douluo, had not insisted on stopping him, he would have gone to give Bibi Dong a proper fight. A Titled Douluo bullying a Soul Elder-if word got out, would she have any face left?
"Enough, Seventh. What are you shouting for? Doesn't Xiao Yue need to rest?" Demon Subduing Douluo's curses droned on like scripture recitations. Second Worship, Golden Crocodile Douluo, could stand it no longer and finally interrupted his tirade.
Demon Subduing Douluo curled his lip, but obediently fell silent. He stole a glance at Qian Daoliu, seated beside Tang Yue's bed. Seeing that his eldest brother's expression was just as sour as his own, he suddenly felt comforted.
So his eldest brother thought the same way he did!
Tang Yue had been unconscious for four or five hours since Guang Ling brought her back. Throughout that time, even Demon Subduing Douluo's relentless cursing had failed to stir her. Qian Daoliu could not help worrying.
Yet Tang Yue had neither external nor internal injuries. This coma was truly strange.
Could it have something to do with the God of Kindness again?
"Mm."
It was late at night. The other enshrined had left Guang Ling Hall one after another, leaving only Guang Ling behind. When Tang Yue awoke and opened her eyes, she saw only a worried silver-haired youth. For once, Guang Ling did not shout.
"Grandpa Guang Ling." Tang Yue rubbed her eyes and sat up, her voice slightly hoarse. Her parched throat needed water, and Guang Ling immediately picked up the cup on the table and handed it to her. He watched her with a slight frown, seemingly examining something.
Tang Yue noticed his gaze, but she was genuinely thirsty. Only after draining a large cup of water did she meet his eyes. "Grandpa Guang Ling, I'm fine now. You don't have to look at me so seriously."
His solemn stare was making her uncomfortable.
Guang Ling said nothing and simply examined her again. He looked her over from left to right, then felt her forehead and touched her cheek, as though checking whether something was wrong with her brain...
"What are you doing?" Tang Yue slapped the back of his hand irritably, having no idea what he was up to.
Guang Ling's eyes lit up, however, and he laughed. "Ah, you really are still my Xiao Yue'er! Mm, you haven't gone stupid. Good!"
With that, he hugged Tang Yue and happily pressed his cheek against hers. "Xiao Yue'er, you have no idea-you had a fever earlier! You nearly scared me to death. I almost froze this entire Guang Ling Hall into an ice palace!"
A fever?
Tang Yue blinked, recalling what had happened in the mental world. She instinctively raised her hand and saw a flame-shaped mark appear in her palm. The flames blazed fiercely, looking remarkably lifelike.
She stared at the flames for a long while.
Earlier, when Bibi Dong had suppressed her in Spirit Hall, her body truly had been unable to withstand it. If the Heart of Goodness had not protected her heart, she would probably have croaked before Guang Ling arrived.
But none of that was a big deal. She even had Bibi Dong to thank for discovering this mental world.
It was under Bibi Dong's pressure that Tang Yue had awakened her Sea of Consciousness in that moment of crisis, using its soul power to preserve her lifeline.
"Xiao Yue'er, how do you feel now? My eldest brother said that as long as you woke up, you'd be fine. But your face is as red as a monkey's backside and burning hot. Are you really all right?"
After keeping his cheek pressed against Tang Yue's for a while, even Guang Ling, whose body radiated icy cold, felt his face growing hot. He frowned slightly and pinched her cheek, beginning to doubt Qian Daoliu's judgment.
"Is it that hot?" Tang Yue frowned and instinctively touched her little face. "Whoa! It's so hot!"
Tang Yue swiftly snatched her hand back. What was going on?
She had not noticed her burning cheeks earlier because Guang Ling radiated cold, was close to her, and had been pressing his cheek against hers. Now that he had stopped, she naturally noticed the abnormal heat coming from her body.
"Do you have a fever again?" Guang Ling reached out to feel Tang Yue's forehead. Unexpectedly, it was not hot at all; her temperature was normal.
Puzzled, Guang Ling touched her neck, which was also at a normal temperature. Could it be only her cheeks that were hot?
What could make only her cheeks heat up?
Guang Ling thought it over carefully, but could make neither head nor tail of it.
He had always been straightforward. How could he think any deeper than that?
Tang Yue clenched the flame mark in her palm, feeling as though all her internal organs were being scorched by raging fire. She was hot-terribly hot.
"Grandpa Guang Ling."
"Mm? What is it, Xiao Yue'er?"
At that moment, Guang Ling was an iceberg before Tang Yue, one that could relieve the heat. She pressed her lips together and said, "I want to sleep with you tonight."
"Huh?"
Guang Ling was a little startled. He reached out to feel Tang Yue's forehead again and asked with a slight frown, "Sleep with me? Are you sure?"
"Mm, I'm sure!" Tang Yue nodded firmly. If this place had air conditioning, she would not have needed to sleep with Guang Ling, her human air conditioner.
Seeing how determined Tang Yue was, Guang Ling had no reason to object. Either way, he came out ahead.
They slept soundly all night.
The next day.
The sun was already three poles high.
For once, Guang Ling had enjoyed a good night's sleep.
He sat up with a yawn, and Tang Yue got up as well.
Tang Yue rarely slept in, but for some reason, sleeping with a human air conditioner in her arms last night had been surprisingly comfortable.
"It's getting late, Xiao Yue'er. Shall I take you to the Worship Hall?" Guang Ling quickly changed into fresh clothes, suddenly remembering what Qian Daoliu had told him the previous night. "My eldest brother wants to speak with you about studying at Heaven Dou Royal Academy."
"You told Grandpa?" Still sitting on the bed, Tang Yue looked at Guang Ling and pouted, a hint of disdain in her eyes.
She had just been praising this human air conditioner, and he had sold her out last night?
"It wasn't me." Guang Ling saw straight through the thoughts in Tang Yue's eyes. He curled his lip and explained, "Xiao Xue wrote my eldest brother a letter. She said she wanted to see you, so she wanted to get you into Heaven Dou Royal Academy. As for why he wants to see you, he probably wants to ask what you think."
Qian Renxue?
Tang Yue froze for a moment.
This probably still traced back to Guang Ling.
Only after having lunch in Guang Ling Hall did Tang Yue head to the Worship Hall with Guang Ling.
As they soon discovered, Qian Daoliu was the only person in the Worship Hall that day.
After greeting Qian Daoliu, Tang Yue said she wanted to study at Heaven Dou Royal Academy. Qian Daoliu nodded in agreement without trying to stop her, but he also brought up another matter.
"Yueyue, would you be willing to take Grandpa's surname?"
Since Qian Xunji's death, the relationship between Bibi Dong and Qian Renxue had grown steadily worse. Had Qian Xunji not truly been in the wrong, and had Qian Renxue not still needed time to mature, Qian Daoliu would never have chosen to support Bibi Dong's rise to power. What he had not expected was that Bibi Dong would attack Tang Yue.
Now that matters had reached this point, Qian Daoliu intended to assert the Worship Hall's authority. He would not attack Bibi Dong, but neither did he want Tang Yue to suffer. He would simply announce to all of Spirit Hall that Tang Yue was his granddaughter, Spirit Hall's second young lady.
Take the surname Qian?
Tang Yue could not have been happier. A faint smile appeared on her face as she tried not to look too excited. "I'd be willing, Grandpa."
The surname Tang felt unlucky anyway. She might as well change her name entirely and spare herself any future entanglements with Tang San and the others.
"Good girl." Qian Daoliu smiled kindly, stepped up to Tang Yue, and stroked her head. "Yueyue, what would you like to be called? Would you like to keep 'Yue'?"
"I'm fine with anything. Yueyue can be my nickname. Grandpa, why don't you choose my formal name?" Tang Yue giggled. As long as her surname was not Tang, she was happy!
"Then let's call you Qian Renyue."
After considering it, Qian Daoliu felt it would be better not to remove the "Yue" from Tang Yue's name. That character was part of their meeting, and keeping it would be wonderful.
Qian Renyue.
Tang Yue loved the name. "Thank you, Grandpa!"
She spoke joyfully.
"As long as you like it."
Qian Daoliu laughed and said nothing more.
The two hit it off immediately. Only Guang Ling seemed less than pleased.
