Tang Yue was beautiful. Though she was filthy now, the radiance she was born with was still impossible to hide.
The youth stared at her for quite some time.
During that time, Tang Yue also confirmed the identity of the youth before her.
Guang Ling, Light Feather Douluo!
The Fifth Enshrined of Spirit Hall!
The man of her dreams!
A single glance that lasted ten thousand years-that saying must have been about him.
It seemed this transmigration wasn't entirely without its perks!
"Are you mute?" The youth came back to his senses and looked down at Tang Yue. Although he did not know what the memories that had suddenly appeared in his mind meant, that was not what mattered now. It was this girl. Why had she felt so familiar the moment he saw her?
"I-I'm not mute!" Tang Yue said hastily. "My name is Tang Yue, and I'm a student at Shrek Academy. This soul beast was chasing me because I got separated from my teachers!"
"Tang Yue?"
Guang Ling murmured her name, crouching down to look at the endearing little girl.
The girl had rolled through the grass, leaving her skin and clothes covered in dirt and water stains. Guang Ling instinctively reached out to wipe her face. When his hand touched Tang Yue's skin, it paused slightly. This child...
"Pretty big brother, w-who are you?" Tang Yue asked timidly, looking like an injured fawn. Even though she already knew the answer, she still had to put on an act before Guang Ling. Otherwise, if he abandoned her in the Star Dou Great Forest, her little life really would be forfeit.
Pretty big brother?
Guang Ling came back to his senses, a hint of scrutiny in his ice-and-snow eyes. He looked at Tang Yue with a smile that was difficult to read. "I'm already eighty years old. Is it really appropriate for you to call me big brother?"
"Huh?" Tang Yue blinked, her eyes brimming with the crystal-clear foolishness of a university student. Right now, she was truly grateful that life had not worn down her edges before she transmigrated. Otherwise, she certainly would not have fooled this old grandpa who had lived for seventy or eighty years.
"But you look so young. How could you be eighty?"
Tang Yue's adorably foolish voice reached Guang Ling's ears, and he threw his head back in laughter. He felt that going out today had been the right choice. Hadn't he picked up an innocent little white flower for free?
"All right, little girl. From now on, call me Grandpa. I'm heading back to Spirit Hall now. Will you come with me?"
Guang Ling stood, looked down at Tang Yue, and then held out his hand to her.
Looking at the pale hand before her, Tang Yue no longer felt any attachment to this body's original family. Without hesitation, she placed her hand in Guang Ling's palm. With a triumphant smile, he pulled her up and gathered her into his arms.
This little girl really was malnourished. She was nothing but bones.
Guang Ling could not help grumbling inwardly.
Still, perhaps this child truly did share some fate with him. There was always a strange feeling in his heart.
Shaking his head, Guang Ling picked up the frail Tang Yue and flew straight toward Spirit Hall.
Spirit City, Spirit Hall, the Worship Hall.
"Eldest Brother, Third Brother, look what I brought back!"
His voice arrived before he did.
Today was one of the rare days when all the Enshrined had gathered in the Worship Hall. The Great Enshrined, Qian Daoliu, stood on high, while the others stood below. Hearing Guang Ling's voice, they all turned toward the hall entrance.
Guang Ling flew into the hall and only retracted his Ice Crystal Wings after reaching Azure Luan Douluo's side.
"Fifth Brother, what have you been up to this time?"
Azure Luan Douluo frowned at the little girl in Guang Ling's arms.
Why had he gone out and come back with a little girl in tow this time?
Azure Luan Douluo was not the only one thinking this. The other Enshrined shared the same thought.
Guang Ling ignored their questioning looks. He simply set Tang Yue down, bowed to Qian Daoliu, and said, "Eldest Brother, this is a little child I picked up in the Star Dou Great Forest. She hasn't awakened her martial soul yet. Sorry for the trouble, but please help her awaken it."
She hadn't awakened her martial soul yet?
Qian Daoliu looked at Tang Yue. This child was at least eight years old. How could she still not have awakened her martial soul?
On their way back to Spirit Hall, Guang Ling had asked Tang Yue about her martial soul. Tang Yue had hemmed and hawed, feeling a little embarrassed to speak. Unexpectedly, Guang Ling had mistaken this to mean she had not awakened her martial soul yet, and so he had excitedly brought her before Qian Daoliu.
Eldest Brother would certainly be delighted to awaken a martial soul!
Guang Ling looked at Tang Yue without saying anything more.
Although Qian Daoliu was puzzled, he did not voice his doubts. He nodded slightly, signaling for Tang Yue to come closer. As for Guang Ling, he would lecture him later.
Under Guang Ling's guidance, Tang Yue approached Qian Daoliu. A faint golden light appeared in his hand and entered her body a moment later. Warmth spread through Tang Yue, and her entire body rose into the air.
The warmth felt wonderfully comfortable.
Tang Yue savored the comfort of that moment. An ordinary lotus martial soul appeared in her right hand, while a Staff appeared in her left palm. The Staff glowed with golden light, and the Heart-Shaped Gemstone set into it shone with dazzling brilliance.
At that moment, it was as though a deity had descended to the mortal world, bringing an invisible sense of pressure.
"Twin martial souls?!"
Not only Qian Daoliu but the other Enshrined were stunned as well. They exclaimed in unison, exchanged glances, and finally turned together toward Tang Yue, who was still awakening her martial souls.
While they were marveling, several fine golden lines appeared on Tang Yue's forehead. Their patterns shifted constantly like sprites, forming a tiny point of light in the air before finally gathering within the Staff, making the light it emitted feel especially warm.
"This is?!"
As the Great Enshrined of the Angel God, Qian Daoliu could not have been more familiar with the sensation of being surrounded by divine power. He looked at Tang Yue in astonishment. "Who might you be?"
