Inside Monster Town
When the town gates closed, Cao Bing took the lead and raced into the town.
This kind of ruined town, coupled with the dim lighting, was ideal for hunters to hide in. If one was careless and got ambushed, even an Intermediate Warrior could easily come to grief.
Cao Bing quickly found his prey.
A Tiger Mastiff Hound the size of a calf.
Facing an H-rank monster like this, Cao Bing was fully confident he could slaughter it. But confidence was one thing; he had never truly fought a monster before.
Even though this Tiger Mastiff Hound was far weaker than him, he could not help feeling a little nervous.
And nervousness could lead to mistakes.
Cao Bing had intended to slowly approach and kill the Tiger Mastiff Hound in a sneak attack, but in his nervousness, he stepped on and shattered an old brick by the roadside.
The Tiger Mastiff Hound instantly noticed him and lunged in for the kill.
"Forget it! I'll just charge in. Sneak attacks aren't for me!" Cao Bing mocked himself as he raised his saber and charged at the Tiger Mastiff Hound.
"Pfft!"
The blade sank into flesh. Cao Bing had put everything into this strike, even using Internal Force. It was so fast that it was almost invisible.
This Tiger Mastiff Hound was truly unlucky. Faced with someone as powerful yet inexperienced as Cao Bing, it had not even reacted before Cao Bing's blade sliced down from the top of its neck to the bottom.
The Tiger Mastiff Hound staggered forward another dozen meters before finally collapsing dead.
Looking again, the cut across the Tiger Mastiff Hound's neck was smooth as a mirror. One strike had cut it into two.
This showed just how fast and powerful Cao Bing's strike had been.
"Damn! I'm this strong?" Cao Bing looked uncertainly at the saber in his hand. Not even a trace of dirty blood had stained it.
"That strike just now must have reached the major mastery stage of the Flame Splitting Saber."
After cutting off and collecting the Tiger Mastiff Hound's ears, Cao Bing found that although the battle had lasted only a single strike, it had given him immense courage.
"Kill! No matter what, I'll take first place!"
Cao Bing swiftly departed and began searching for his next prey.
At the same time, Luo Feng had only just encountered his first prey, an Iron-haired Wild Boar.
Meanwhile, Wan Dong, who had just made the bet, was desperately fighting under the combined assault of two Shadow Cats.
"Found you!" Cao Bing's figure flashed past like lightning.
Two Iron-haired Wild Boars were resting on the ground ahead. When they suddenly saw Cao Bing charging toward them, their pig eyes widened and they were about to fly into a rage. But to Cao Bing, their movements were simply too slow.
The extreme speed of Flying Shadow Steps pushed Cao Bing's speed to its limit.
"Swish! Swish!"
Two flashes of blade light passed, and the two Iron-haired Wild Boars fell in response.
"Ten!" After cutting off the two beast ears, Cao Bing left once more. In this Monster Town beneath the night sky, Cao Bing was now the most terrifying hunter.
"Not bad!" Inside a small building outside town, Zhuge Tao watched Cao Bing rapidly reap the monsters' lives through the screen, and a satisfied smile appeared at the corner of his lips.
"This kid's speed and saber technique have already reached the limit of an Intermediate Warrior. He seems to have improved greatly compared to the previous test."
Sitting in his chair, Zhuge Tao took a sip of expensive red wine, his fingertips rhythmically tapping against the armrest.
"If possible, it seems I could recommend him to the Basic Training Camp."
"But if I let this kid keep killing like this, there won't be much point to it."
As Zhuge Tao thought, he suddenly grabbed the intercom. "Pass down the order. Have someone lure twenty Tiger Mastiff Hounds over to Quasi-Warrior No. 159."
"Yes!"
The person on the other end of the intercom did not question Zhuge Tao's order in the slightest and immediately carried it out.
"Pretty boring." After taking another Shadow Cat's life, Cao Bing curled his lip.
From the nervousness he felt upon encountering his first monster, to the excitement of killing afterward, Cao Bing had now consecutively taken the lives of more than thirty monsters and was already finding it dull.
These monsters were too low-level. With Cao Bing's current combat strength, he could completely rival an Advanced Warrior. Killing these things posed no pressure at all, even without using Internal Force.
"Hm?"
Cao Bing's ears twitched. Dozens of Tiger Mastiff Hounds were charging toward him from all directions.
"Holy shit, what's going on?"
Cao Bing was horrified. "Is this heaven punishing me for running my mouth?"
With no time to think, Cao Bing picked the direction with the fewest Tiger Mastiff Hounds and charged out.
Blade light flashed repeatedly. Two Tiger Mastiff Hounds instantly lost their lives. Cao Bing punched the third Tiger Mastiff Hound in the head, immediately caving in its skull.
"Huh! Looks like I can fight them!" Easily taking the lives of three monsters, Cao Bing's spirits soared as he realized there seemed to be no need for him to run.
"Tch! I'll give it a shot!"
Having made up his mind, Cao Bing spun around. Rather than fleeing, he charged toward another direction.
"Roar!" Seeing their kin die miserably, the other Tiger Mastiff Hounds did not retreat. Instead, as if their ferocity had been provoked, they roared and charged at Cao Bing.
"Pah! Take this!"
Cao Bing lowered his body and, beneath the Tiger Mastiff Hound's pounce, slashed open one Tiger Mastiff Hound from its belly.
"Come again! This time, I'll kill to my heart's content!"
Cao Bing finally saw it clearly. Though he appeared greedy for life and afraid of death, wanting only to stick close to the protagonist and survive until the end of time, he still had a daring heart.
Otherwise, despite knowing the light spots in his mind were strange, he would not have rushed in to try them back then.
"Pfft! Pfft!" Another two strikes! Cao Bing cut a cross across one Tiger Mastiff Hound's belly, and its intestines and organs instantly spilled all over the ground.
At the same time, the other Tiger Mastiff Hounds had surrounded him. Yet Cao Bing remained fearless. His body transformed into streaks of flying shadows; no matter how the Tiger Mastiff Hounds lunged, they could not touch even his shadow.
The long saber in his hand was like the scythe of the Death God. Every swing took a life.
In less than ten minutes, fewer than ten of the Tiger Mastiff Hounds that had charged at him remained alive.
"Kill!" With another furious roar, Cao Bing severed the front limbs of two Tiger Mastiff Hounds with one strike, making them cry out miserably as they collapsed to the ground.
"Fuck!" However, Cao Bing was only human. Even though his movement technique had reached the Micro-level, he was bound to make mistakes when facing the savage attacks of more than twenty Tiger Mastiff Hounds.
One Tiger Mastiff Hound seized an opening and pounced fiercely. Cao Bing had no time to dodge and could only hold his saber sideways to block the attack, his body forced back two steps by the impact.
"Die!"
After blocking the attack, Cao Bing quickly dodged aside and punched a Tiger Mastiff Hound in the shoulder just as it was about to launch a sneak attack.
Its bones broke and tendons snapped instantly.
"Wonderful!" Cao Bing laughed loudly and swung his saber again, slitting the throat of another Tiger Mastiff Hound.
"Not bad. He has talent in both movement technique and saber technique, though he's still lacking a bit in experience!"
Zhuge Tao, seated before the surveillance screen, smiled and took a sip of wine.
"Nothing much left to watch!"
Cao Bing was slaughtering in every direction on the monitor, but Zhuge Tao had already lost interest in continuing to watch.
