Hunting II

Cao Bing followed Guan Yong at a sprint, taking out quite a few Beast Soldier-level monsters that got in their way.

Both were speed-focused fighters. As they rapidly weaved through the horde, they soon reached the school's teaching building, and their swift movements threw the beast pack into even greater chaos.

"I'll take the second floor. Cao Bing, stay on the first and clear out the Beast Soldiers quickly." Guan Yong swept his gaze over the monsters in the corridor before speaking to Cao Bing.

There were not many monsters left on the first floor, only a dozen or so Beast Soldiers. Even if there were Advanced ones among them, Cao Bing's movement speed meant they posed no threat to him.

"Alright." Cao Bing nodded. Guan Yong instantly rushed up to the second floor.

Now it's my turn. Cao Bing shouted inwardly. The dozen or so wild boars around him had long since fixed their bloodshot eyes on him.

"Roar!" An Intermediate Beast Soldier Iron-haired Wild Boar let out a roar and charged at Cao Bing.

"Too slow, and even less agile!" Having learned plenty from Guan Yong along the way, Cao Bing was no longer a clueless rookie. At a glance, he spotted the Iron-haired Wild Boar's many weaknesses.

With a sweep of his saber, he cut a huge gash across the boar's neck. Blood poured onto the floor as if it cost nothing, and before long, it died.

But that was not the only Beast Soldier on the first floor. Soon, several more wild boars charged toward him.

"Useless!"

Cao Bing pushed off the ground and nimbly slipped through the pincer attack of two wild boars, taking their lives in the process. Not even a drop of blood splashed onto him.

"Advanced Beast Soldier! You'll do!" After killing the two boars, Cao Bing looked up and saw an even sturdier wild boar crash out of a ruined classroom. His pupils contracted, and an excited smile appeared on his face.

Die! Cao Bing shouted inwardly. He pushed his movement technique and speed to the limit. The arm gripping his saber seemed to split into two in an instant, both striking toward the wild boar.

But the boar truly deserved to be called an Advanced Beast Soldier. It showed no fear toward Cao Bing's charge. Instead, its eyes reddened as it rammed at him madly and furiously, as though it intended to turn him into a puddle of flesh.

"Tch, only an idiot would clash with you head-on!"

When they were less than three meters apart, Cao Bing lightly tapped his feet against the wall beside him and began running along it, his body parallel to the ground as he sped forward.

"Roar!" This Advanced Beast Soldier was indeed extraordinary. Even as Cao Bing changed direction in a flash, it managed to react. Its hooves shattered the ground, and the entire boar leaped into the air to gore him.

Yet it still could not escape death. Cao Bing rose even higher, leaping over the boar's head. Two saber afterimages flashed—one stabbed into the boar's right eye, while the other severed its neck.

The wild boar crashed to the ground and died.

"That was close! Monsters in the wilderness really are far more aggressive than captive ones. That beast actually reacted in such a short time." Cao Bing exclaimed, but he had no time to stop. He turned into a gale and charged at the remaining Beast Soldiers.

"Boom!"

Suddenly, a massive explosion rang out! It was followed by a furious roar that left Cao Bing's head reeling.

"Not good! Captain, an Advanced Beast General!"

Guan Yong's anxious shout came through the earpiece.

Before Cao Bing could react, he saw a figure leap down from the upper floors of the teaching building and land steadily on the ground.

Another thunderous crash followed. Rubble flew as a mountain-like figure slammed into the ground and let out a long roar. Under those repeated impacts, the already dilapidated teaching building began to sway precariously.

"Little Cao, leave from the rear, now!" Yan Ying's command came swiftly through the earpiece. "Zheng Ke, join forces and take it down. Old Guan, lead it in circles!"

"Understood!" they answered in unison.

Cao Bing did not hesitate. He ignored the other monsters and quickly slipped away behind the Advanced Beast General.

But following the Advanced Beast General's roar, the other Beast Soldiers went mad, desperately attacking Cao Bing.

"Damn it! You suicidal bastards!" Cao Bing roared. His saber struck again and again, swinging faster and faster. The wild boars blocking his way fell beneath his blade one after another.

At the same time, the battle at the front of the teaching building began. Guan Yong successfully drew the Advanced Beast General's attention and led it in circles around the plaza.

Song Shengnan swiftly dealt with several wild boars and began closing in on the Beast General, while Xie Hongxin stayed close behind Song Shengnan, protecting her at all times.

Yan Ying was also rapidly approaching the main battlefield, a dark alloy arrow already nocked on his bowstring.

"Guan Yong, create an opening for me!" Yan Ying said.

"Alright. In three breaths!" Guan Yong's voice now held almost no emotion aside from faint panting.

"Rumble!"

Suddenly, the base of the teaching building tilted. A third of the building instantly collapsed, while the rest slowly began to lean, clearly on the verge of falling as well.

"Cao Bing, leave the teaching building immediately!" This time, it was not Captain Yan Ying who spoke, but Fang Ye, the seasoned wilderness veteran who had been watching from the sidelines.

"I know!" Cao Bing looked exceptionally disheveled. The sudden collapse shook the ground violently and nearly made him lose his footing and fall.
