"Captain, there's something off about this monkey's strength." After collecting the monster materials, Guan Yong walked over to Yan Ying and reported.
"Something off?"
"Yes. By my judgment, this Long-Armed Woolly Monkey was at least an Advanced Beast General, but its actual strength fell far short of that!"
"And from our usual hunting experience, a Long-Armed Woolly Monkey troop of only forty or fifty shouldn't have an Advanced Beast General at all. Having even an Intermediate Beast General Level one would already be impressive."
"So..."
"So this mutation was more extensive than we imagined. Even beast packs this close to the edge of Forest No. 017 had evolved. It was clear this mutation was anything but ordinary."
Before Guan Yong could finish, Yan Ying had already taken over.
"Are you done packing up? If so, set out immediately. The plan has changed. Unless necessary, do not engage monsters in fierce battles. Prioritize traveling. Avoid them if you can; if you can't, deal with them as quickly as possible!"
Yan Ying issued her orders swiftly.
"Yes!"
Cao Bing and the others promptly answered.
Once they broke into a run, their speed surged. Along the way, unless they encountered monsters they could not avoid, which Cao Bing and the others killed forcefully, they hardly stopped at all!
In just two days and one night, Cao Bing and the others had no idea how deep they had traveled into the forest.
Besides beast packs, they had also discovered quite a few corpses left behind after battles.
Some belonged to monsters, while others belonged to humans!
"Captain, there seems to be a Martial Artist squad gathered ahead!"
Cao Bing hid amid dense branches and leaves, staring at a pile of rubble not far away.
Two Martial Artists in Combat Suits stood openly atop two massive boulders.
Because they were too far away, Cao Bing did not dare judge their strength.
Suddenly, before Yan Ying could respond, Cao Bing felt an instant chill run down his spine. His hairs stood on end, and cold sweat streamed down his back.
A sense of crisis!
A deathly sense of crisis!
Cao Bing did not know why he could sense it so clearly, but every cell in his body seemed to tremble, warning him of one thing.
Danger was right before him!
"Captain, I've been spotted!"
Cao Bing stood frozen in place, not daring to move even slightly. He could only notify Yan Ying in the quietest voice possible.
He had a premonition that if he made even the slightest rash move, the gun trained on him would claim his life instantly!
A High-level Warrior General sniper!
The pinnacle a firearm-wielding Martial Artist could reach!
Cao Bing thought he had concealed himself well, yet against such terrifying perception, it had taken only moments for the other party to put a gun to his head!
"Try not to move."
It was Guan Yong's voice, nearly devoid of emotion.
Yet Cao Bing heard a bone-chilling coldness in it!
A deathly silence.
"Old Fang, help me find him."
Guan Yong continued.
"Mm."
Fang Ye gave a soft grunt and nodded without speaking.
Listening through his earpiece, Cao Bing somehow felt his body and mind relax slightly, and his body was no longer as stiff as before.
But the sense of crisis in his heart had not diminished in the slightest.
He did not dare move his body, but his eyes slowly shifted as he tried to locate the sniper.
However, the other party was clearly far better at concealing himself than Cao Bing.
He searched carefully, yet found nothing.
Second by second, time passed. Cao Bing did not move, and the man seemingly had no intention of killing him either.
The two sides remained locked in a stalemate!
After roughly three minutes, the opposing squad seemed to have exhausted its patience. The two Martial Artists standing on the boulders appeared to receive an order and began walking toward Cao Bing.
"Uncle Yan, they're coming toward me."
"Hold steady!" Yan Ying replied coldly.
"Yes."
Cao Bing answered quietly. He still did not dare move in the slightest.
Just then, the two Martial Artists in the open stopped around ten meters from where Cao Bing was hiding. One was a scar-faced middle-aged Martial Artist, who stared toward Cao Bing's hiding place and shouted.
"Are you coming out yourself, or do you want me to invite you out?"
Once his words fell, the surroundings returned to silence. It was as if he were speaking to thin air.
After a long while without any movement, the scar-faced Martial Artist gave a vicious grin and continued speaking toward Cao Bing.
"Still not coming out? Don't tell me you think you can still fool your way through this. If you don't come out now, I'm making my move!"
His words fell, but Cao Bing remained in his original position, not daring to move. His mind raced as he considered how to handle the situation.
That intense sense of danger had not faded at all, which meant Guan Yong had yet to successfully deal with the sniper.
"Still not coming out? Then don't blame me!"
Seeing that Cao Bing still refused to respond, the two Martial Artists grew angry and raised their blades to attack.
"Don't! I'm coming out now!"
Seeing that he truly could not hide any longer, Cao Bing had no choice but to crawl out of the bushes himself. At the same time, he raised both hands and shouted.
"Damn it, I thought it was something special. Turns out it's just some brat whose hair hasn't even grown in yet!"
As Cao Bing emerged, the other Martial Artist holding a saber spat on the ground.
"Kid, who gave you the guts to spy on us?" The saber-wielding Martial Artist slowly approached Cao Bing and gestured with his saber across Cao Bing's neck.
The threat in his eyes was obvious.
Cao Bing's gaze flickered. With both hands raised, he discreetly took half a step back while subtly shifting his body to adjust his position.
With these two Martial Artists present, the sniper hidden in the dark clearly had no intention of immediately killing Cao Bing.
"Brother Kui, what do we do with this kid?" The saber-wielding Martial Artist asked the scar-faced man.
"What else? Have him put down his weapon, then take him back!" Brother Kui looked Cao Bing over and said.
"This brat got lucky!" Hearing that, the saber-wielding Martial Artist did not pull his blade away from Cao Bing's neck. Instead, he freed one hand and reached for Cao Bing's war saber.
At that moment, because the two men had drawn closer, most of Cao Bing's body was hidden behind them. The instant the saber-wielding Martial Artist reached for his weapon, Cao Bing felt his body suddenly grow light.
A perfect chance!
Trusting his instincts, the instant the gunman's threat vanished, Cao Bing erupted into action.
His fists were like a charging Wild Bull as they slammed heavily into the saber-wielding Martial Artist's chest.
Cao Bing's attack was so sudden, and the two men had such absolute confidence in their own sniper, that they had not been sufficiently on guard. The saber-wielding Martial Artist had no time to react before Cao Bing's punch sent him flying.
"You're courting death!"
The scar-faced Martial Artist had only just reacted when fury surged through him. He roared and charged at Cao Bing.
However, Cao Bing gave him no such opportunity. An overwhelmingly powerful sniper was still threatening his life at every moment; how could he possibly fight this man?
Using the two men's bodies as cover to break free of the sniper's line of sight and suddenly attack had already been extremely risky.
After injuring the man, Cao Bing ignored everything else. He curled his body up as much as possible and, like a startled civet cat, plunged headfirst into the forest.
