Chapter 3: Danger drew near. Mu Chen and Luo Li stood in the heart of the ruins, facing the imposing guardian beast. Just as they prepared to give the fight their all, an unexpected aura of danger quietly spread behind them. Like an icy venomous snake, it crawled slowly up their spines, making their hair stand on end. Mu Chen frowned slightly, his Spiritual Energy Perception keenly catching the disturbance. Before he could turn to investigate, a shrill whistle pierced the air, and several black spiritual energy arrows streaked toward them like meteors. The arrows were incredibly fast, each wreathed in a thick, evil aura. They had clearly been imbued with some powerful curse. "Watch out!" Mu Chen shouted. He spun around, gathered star power into his weapon, and swung a spiritual energy slash at the arrows. The slash collided with the black arrows in midair, triggering a violent explosion. The powerful impact drove Mu Chen several steps back. Luo Li sensed the danger as well. She used her Spiritual Power Sword to form a shield around herself while watching the direction of the attack warily. A group of mysterious people in black robes slowly emerged from the shadows. Their faces were hidden beneath their robes, leaving only pairs of eyes glimmering with eerie red light visible. Powerful, evil spiritual energy radiated from these Black-Robed People, clashing with the ancient spiritual energy in the ruins and making even the surrounding air restless. "Who are you?" Mu Chen demanded loudly, an ominous foreboding rising within him. The appearance of these Black-Robed People was clearly no coincidence. They must have come for the spiritual energy treasure within the ruins. The leader of the Black-Robed People gave a low laugh. "Hmph. Who we are doesn't matter. What matters is that you'll both die
