Outside the Magic Array.
Black Cat crouched low, his tail bristling and his whole body taut as he stared at the Great Toad. At some point, his eyes had turned crimson, like two beautiful rubies. His claws slid out and dug firmly into the broad tree stump.
Jiang Yu's hair streamed behind her head. Holding an antique Talisman Gun in both hands, she gritted her teeth against the immense pressure bearing down on her and inched the muzzle toward the toad. The jade pendant at her waist floated in the air, its seven-colored halo shielding her securely within.
"Sartogua!"
Black Cat growled the familiar yet unfamiliar name deep in his throat. The instant he saw the Great Toad, his instincts had given him the answer—the monstrous demon crouching at the far end of the bend in the Silent River and the second moon that had abruptly appeared above the campus late at night were both inextricably linked to the aura emanating from this monster.
His relationship with this monster was anything but good.
With his crimson eyes wide open, Black Cat stared fixedly into the monster's slowly opening eyes. Sartogua's eyes were bright yellow streaked with brownish black, like gazanias in bloom.
"Heh, heh heh..."
A low laugh echoed endlessly throughout the Small World. The six stone pillars at the edge of the Magic Array, originally used to control its range, had all snapped. The yellow clay tablets engraved with Old Seals around the array had also crumbled to dust beneath the monster's overwhelming aura.
Sartogua opened His eyes wide, a rare sight:
"What a... long-awaited... feast."
His voice was full of emotion and sincerity, but His eyes brimmed with greed. Beside Him, Colma struggled as her figure faded little by little, blurring and becoming transparent like an oil painting
