When he left that morning, he had hummed a tune and sung a song. The sunlight had been so bright, life so beautiful.
When he returned that evening, a warm breeze was blowing. The world had not changed, yet his state of mind was completely different.
So much had happened in a single day. He had learned too many secrets. Although he had gotten a refurbished brain, Zheng Qing still felt it was not quite enough—perhaps because it had only just been refurbished, and he was not yet used to it.
In short, after following Yellow Flower Cat back to the school, finding his dormitory, climbing into bed, and burying his head in the pillow, Zheng Qing's mind had felt numb throughout the entire process.
It was not blank, nor was it burdened by excessive thoughts. It was simply dull and wooden.
Perhaps a good night's sleep would fix it. With that simple thought in mind, the young scholarship student drank a vial of Calming Agent, put on an eye mask, forced his thoughts to slowly sink, and barely drifted into sleep.
In his dreams, he seemed to hear earth-shaking roars and muffled explosions again. He seemed to see red light filling the sky again, along with an endless white world.
Then he jolted awake from his dream.
Blinding sunlight streamed through the glass window and shone directly on his face, making the young wizard groan softly:
"...Is sunlight free today or something..."
"Whether sunlight costs money, I don't know. But you ought to save some money for yourself," Fatty Xin's familiar voice sounded behind Zheng Qing, startling him badly.
He twisted his head around with great force, and a greasy, round, chubby face immediately filled his vision.
Their faces were practically touching.
"Holy shit!!" the young scholarship student cried.
