The museum at midnight was anything but quiet.
From the neighboring exhibition hall came the occasional sounds of exhibits brawling, interspersed with the resounding voice of some singer and the strange roars of Magical Creatures.
The temporary exhibition hall occupied by the You Zui Hunting Team lacked the vitality of the museum's exhibits, but its displays were not inanimate either. As the young wizards gathered before the mirror to discuss how to enter and leave the magic mirror, a circle of spectators had somehow formed around them.
There was the "traveler" bronze statue carrying a suitcase, with most of its body hollow; the old scholar in flowing robes, holding a book of spells; the astronomer with a telescope aimed at the young wizards; and the stone girl covered in moss, beside whom lay a willow hound.
Maodou crouched beside the slender willow dog, wagging his tail happily, apparently very interested in this unusual member of his kind. Yet the willow hound remained poised at the stone girl's side, staring straight ahead as though it could not see the cheerful gray-skinned dog beside it.
These onlookers watched the young wizards' discussion quietly and merrily, occasionally pointing at the magic mirror nearby.
Since Zheng Qing and the others were busy with serious matters and no longer responded to the mirror demons' provocations, most of the bored mirror demons had vanished from the mirror's surface. Only a few gaunt, lifeless mirror demons remained, sitting in the corners of the mirror and spying on the young wizards' movements.
Xiao Xiao did not speak loudly, but the temporary exhibition hall was spacious and quiet, so his voice echoed clearly by every young hunter's ear:
