As several incantations rang out over the battlefield, more than a dozen red-and-white beams shot from every corner of Black Prison Castle, piercing the gaps in the torn clouds overhead.

The clear voices echoed again and again through the air.
The intense light struck the folds atop Leviathan's head, making the beast narrow many of its eyes. But it immediately realized the light was not aimed at it.
Dozens of miniature "suns" bloomed among the clouds at once, bursting with dazzling light.
The light briefly halted the demons that had crossed into this world, made the Black Prison's longtime inmates shrink back, and let the wizards defending the castle see bank upon bank of brilliant storm clouds. Even the edges of the thick black clouds overhead gleamed with gold.
The spell's effect vanished in a flash.
As though an east wind had set a thousand trees ablaze with blossoms, then sent stars falling like rain.
When the little suns went out, they became specks of light that poured from the sky like a downpour. They swept a bright curtain across the world, replacing the illumination lost when the Sky Lantern Array was damaged and extending the wizards' field of vision even farther.
Behind the battlements of the castle towers, the defending wizards could see through the night by that scattered light. They saw the prisoners regrouping where darkness had hidden them, the ranks of monsters assembling beneath Leviathan's dangling tendrils, and, between the Demon Allied Army and the monster legions, one savage-looking, fearsome high-level demon after another.
