The fight between the dead ghouls and the living ones was nowhere near as tense or thrilling as Zheng Qing had imagined.
He watched the naked, gaunt creatures stagger across the hunting ground's dusty yellow earth. They looked like a gang of doddering old men heading into a brawl, their movements slow and clumsy.
They muttered in the peculiar language of the Dreamlands ghouls, shoving and cursing one another. Their rubbery flesh proved remarkably tough against their own kind's fangs and claws. A reek of blood and rot spread across the hunting ground, and for a moment, Zheng Qing felt that the ghouls' real weapon was not their claws, but their stench.
"Wo Ma Xuan Huang!"
"Wo Ma Hui Tui!"
"Wo Ma Tu Yi!"
Zheng Qing, Xiao Xiao, and Zhang Jixin formed a Small Three Talents Formation around the Vampire Werewolf, who was controlling the corpses. They raised their spellbooks together and chanted an enhanced Weak Leg Spell in interlocking rhythm, casting it on the newly arrived prey.
Pale yellow spell light layered over itself, wave after wave. Many ghouls failed to dodge and collapsed into the dirt, causing no end of trouble for their companions.

The Chaos Spell that followed made things worse. Hordes of ghouls milled about like headless flies, and now and then some unlucky creature tripped over its own feet and went sprawling.
The successive spells soon shattered the ghouls' simple tactics. The corpses controlled by the wizards, meanwhile, shared a single "brain" and easily split the confused ghouls into more than a dozen groups, robbing them of their greatest advantage.
"I think we may have made a small mistake," Xiao Xiao said suddenly. He stopped casting the Chaos Spell and put away his spellbook.
