Ordinary bats had poor eyesight, could only emit ultrasonic waves, and possessed overly sensitive hearing, with a sensory system vastly different from that of most mammals. Thus, few wizards chose this creature when casting the Transformation Incantation.
But Blood Clan bats were different.
Although the Blood Clan's fully transformed form looked very much like a bat, they belonged to two entirely different species. Blood Clan bats were not only larger after transformation, but their sight, hearing, vocal abilities, and other faculties were also well balanced through magic. While they could not speak freely like that strange black cat, they were certainly not as different as that parrot had claimed.
With the honor of the Blood Clan at stake, Matthew almost instinctively opened his mouth to retort.
Then he realized his identity and current position. He forcefully suppressed the impulse, lowered his gaze, and turned a deaf ear to the chaotic "animal chatter" in the room. As his cousin had taught him, he dragged his heavy feet, slowly found his place, and sat down.
Creak.
The high-backed chair screeched sharply against the floor as he sat.
The previously noisy meeting room abruptly fell silent. Birds and cats alike turned their gazes toward the wizard wearing the Bat Mask. After a brief pause, the black cat spoke first.
"Cough, cough."
The black cat sat on the cold tabletop with its tail pinned beneath it, putting on a show of coughing twice. "Lucifer, you gathered everyone here today because you had some news concerning the crows..."
Matthew raised a hand and cast a simple barrier around himself and the black cat.
"The crows appeared during the school's winter hunt and attacked the Edge Hunting Team."
The wizard in the Bat Mask got straight to the point, spilling all the intelligence he had mastered
