Zheng Qing looked up at the sky.
He wasn't sure whether he had imagined it, but he felt as though someone above him had just called his name.
Yet all he could see was an opal-like sun and a few heavy clouds. There was nothing else in the sky. Even the birds of the Silent Forest had wisely avoided this battlefield, where magic power surged.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
A string of crisp explosions swiftly drew the young scholarship student's gaze back down.
At the center of the battlefield.
Stripped of two outer shells, the Illegal Laboratory had exposed its intricate, pyramid-shaped core. Now, bursts of orange fire were spiraling up around that "pyramid," one after another.
"...The enemy is deliberately detonating the magic power nodes along the attached surfaces, creating reverse interference with our traction formations... All units, remain alert and watch for any attempts by the enemy to escape under cover of the disturbance..."
A green flame hovered diagonally above the You Zui Hunter Team. A bird's head poked out of it, chirping away as it reported the latest developments on the battlefield. After completing his liaison duties, Mr. "Bun" had left this Blue Bird behind and departed. Now, only the You Zui Hunter Team's five young hunters remained in this area.
With no outsiders around, everyone was quite relaxed.
"Those crows have at least some combat sense in their heads. They know better than to let the Trident Sword Organization peel off every layer of their 'clothes' and expose their big, pale backsides."
Hanging upside down from a branch, Dylan swayed as he watched the distant bursts of fire. He gave an enormous yawn, revealing two small, deathly pale fangs. "...But the Divination Group should already have a contingency plan for this, right?"
"Without a doubt."
