Tuesday morning's divination class covered the Face-Touching Divination Method, an extension of Facial Divination.
Unlike traditional Facial Divination, which focused on numerous details such as the eyebrows, eyes, nose, mouth, tongue, ears, hair, skin, and head shape, and emphasized first observing the eight features, then the three courts, with the eyes spanning five proportions and the mouth roughly three, Face Touching Divination seemed better classified as a branch of mysticism.
Simply put, this divination technique made broad predictions about corresponding events and their developments based on where and how people unconsciously touched their faces when thinking about something.
For example, if someone thought of a person's appearance or name and unconsciously touched their nose, it meant they would soon meet that person; touching their lips unconsciously meant that person was talking about them; touching their cheeks—the apple of the cheeks—predicted that person was safe and sound; touching the back of their neck meant the two would find it difficult to meet in the near future, and so on.
Likewise, when predicting an event, touching the nose meant it would not proceed smoothly; touching the cheeks indicated it would be successfully completed; touching the lips suggested there would be friction or discord; touching the chin meant the outcome was ambiguous, though it might succeed.
"The conditions for divination are so strict, yet the conclusions are so vague. No wonder this method is listed as an 'after-class elective,'" Zheng Qing could not help complaining to Xiao Xiao during their classroom practice.
He had every reason to complain.
During the exercise just now, he had naturally thought of Jiang Yu first, then Su Shijun, yet both his hands had remained obediently on the desk without moving at all.
As if they were two stones.
Xiao Xiao attributed this to Zheng Qing's divination process
