Poseidon looked up at those enormous eyes, a string of questions flashing through her mind. Almost at the same time, as that voice sounded, the eyes in the sea of clouds suddenly lit up. Their golden-red gaze was like a flowing river, falling from the heavens into the mortal world before finally stopping at the windowsill.
The little jade figure stood before that river-like, roiling gaze, hands tucked away, silent.
Poseidon came back to her senses.
Curiously, she stepped forward, extended a finger, and dipped it into the "river." Then she immediately jerked it back as if startled.
"It's hot!"
She turned to the little jade figure and shouted, then looked back at the golden-red "river," hesitating. There was a trace of uncertainty in her voice. "Are we supposed to swim up there? But I'm not very good at swimming."
"Continue your prayer."
The little jade figure gave the order succinctly.
Poseidon twitched her ears. She was about to ask something else when she saw the little jade figure lift a leg and step into the river. In the blink of an eye, the golden-red river turned into surging flames and swallowed her whole.
Before the Little Fox could cry out in alarm.
The little jade figure's voice drifted from that golden-red radiance where river water and flames intertwined. "I'll wait for you up there."
She hadn't been burned to death?
Poseidon finally understood.
Without another word, she flicked up her tail and jumped in after her.
Then, with a splat, she was slapped back onto the windowsill by the spray.
"Oh, I understand, I understand... Beautiful lady, merciful lady, lady who loves me, I admire you and pray to you..."
