Just as Xiao Xiao and Fatty Xin were chatting, Zheng Qing's bed suddenly shook violently, startling them both. Even Fat Cat Tuantuan, who had been seriously crunching dried shrimp, lifted his head and curiously glanced at the bed.
The red curtains around Zheng Qing's four-poster bed trembled, then swelled as though being inflated. The little sprites circling outside, waiting for their master to emerge, seemed to sense something terrifying. They shrieked and flew about wildly like headless flies.
"Gulp."
Fatty Xin swallowed loudly, staring without blinking at Zheng Qing's bed curtains. After hesitating for a moment, he softly asked Dr. Xiao beside him, "Doctor... does the manual mention any risk of exploding on the spot after drinking a Transformation Potion?"
Xiao Xiao frowned and carefully opened his spellbook. He too stared fixedly at Zheng Qing's bed, answering in a quiet yet unusually solemn voice, "Theoretically, that shouldn't be possible... but you know, magic can be unreasonable sometimes. Many magical accidents in history happened for no apparent reason."
That explanation only made them more uneasy.
Fat Cat Tuantuan raised a paw and patted the fat boy's arm. Fatty Xin immediately understood and quietly shuffled two steps backward, carrying the tabby cat with him as he edged toward the balcony door.
Xiao Xiao's brows drooped helplessly. He said irritably, "The room is only this big. If there really is danger, where can you hide?!"
"As long as I'm farther away than you," Fatty Xin muttered. He slowly tucked Fat Cat Tuantuan into the corner behind the balcony, then leaned over and grabbed his spellbook from the desk. As he flipped through it, a layer of green light slowly rose around him.
Outside the curtains, the two students of Dormitory 403 stood on high alert, as though facing a formidable enemy.
