The battle between Angel and Rakshasa grew ever more extreme.
Chaotic images piled up in Ren Tao's mind, until he could no longer tell imagination from perception or memory.
Light like golden magma erupted violently, engulfing vast stretches of land. Still more dazzling radiance exploded within it, spewing flames in every direction, swiftly turning earth and forests into steam, then reducing that steam to nothingness.
Surging blue-violet lightning unleashed its seething thunderous power, racing through earth and sky. It circled the entire planet before finally becoming a giant serpent and swallowing the planet whole.
As it raised its head and surveyed its surroundings, its gaze seemed to pierce the night and project straight into Ren Tao's mind.
He shuddered, only to discover that in an even more distant space, a figure too enormous to describe stood against the starry universe and cast a glance at the giant serpent.
"Found her!"
Each of the Nine-Headed Bat King's nine mouths spat out a black flame of light. They gathered together, forming a mottled shape resembling a miniature terrain map.
At the center of that abstract map, a pale-purple figure moved rapidly, the scythe on her body resembling a battle standard as it released phantom after phantom.
Ren Tao's thoughts were interrupted, and he broke into a cold sweat.
"She's several hundred miles away, but the surrounding space has been sealed off by the energy of their battle. How do we get there?"
The Nine-Headed Bat King seemed to have exhausted too much of his strength and looked terribly weak. Black, oily sweat seeped from his body, making him even uglier.
"Let's get closer first!"
