Silver Fox had truly fallen in love with Logan.

She did not try to escape. Instead, she closed her eyes and hoped Logan would kill her.

Wolverine gathered the woman he loved into his arms, buried his face in her hair, and took a deep breath.

Brad took a hefty swig of pine nut liquor as he watched their public display of affection.

He knew Wolverine was not Wolverine right now. He was just Logan, a man who wanted a quiet life.

But he could not leave Silver Fox's predicament alone.

Now that Brad had specifically brought it up, Wolverine had no choice but to become Wolverine again for a while.

Seeing that the two of them would be embracing and pouring their hearts out in the kitchen for some time yet, Brad went back to the sedan and brought in a uniform.

When Logan returned to the living room and saw the uniform Brad had tossed onto the couch, he gave Brad a resentful look. "So you didn't come here to catch up at all?"

Brad did not answer. He simply picked up the bottle and poured himself another glass.

"Try it on. It's reinforced with adamanium alloy fiber. You might be hard to kill, but if someone snaps your spine, you'll still be completely at their mercy."

"Adamanium alloy?"

Wolverine did not mind stripping naked right there. Brad's gaze swept over him before he quickly turned away. "God, I'm going to get a stye."

"It's made from that mysterious metal we helped Stryker get back then. Synthesizing it took a few years. I stole some when I left Stryker."

"So?"

Logan struggled to pull the uniform on. "You're coming too? Why? Does Stryker have some of your family locked up as well?"

"I synthesized the adamanium alloy, and its commercial value is nothing to sneeze at. I want to take all of it from Stryker."

"Robbery."

Frowning, Logan finished putting on the uniform and twisted from side to side, offering his assessment of Brad's intentions along the way.

Still, if Stryker was the target, Logan was all for it.

The uniform Brad had designed was predominantly black, with a few silver lines running through it. A palm-sized X emblem sat over the left side of the chest. That piece was pure adamanium alloy, positioned right over the heart.

Logan wanted Silver Fox to wait at home, but she insisted on coming along.

The three of them got into the sedan.

Logan studied the burly driver, who was covered from head to toe, for quite a while before turning to Brad. "By the way, what happened to that girl in your photo?"

"..."

Brad fell silent for a moment. "She's not anything to me. She has a boyfriend. She turned me down when I asked her out."

"The moon won't come to you."

"Unless you're the sun."

That was Brad's conclusion.

The black sedan sped away, gradually disappearing over the horizon toward the setting sun.

"How are we getting there?"

"Private jet."

Stryker had been very irritable lately.

Brad's betrayal a few years earlier had enraged him, so he had begun driving his staff even harder, ordering them to speed up the research at any cost.

This subjected the mutants Stryker had secretly imprisoned to even more inhuman torture. Their blood and bone marrow were harvested almost every two or three days.

Some mutants had so much cerebrospinal fluid drained that they could only die in their cells, covered in filth.

Stryker did not spare their corpses either. They were dragged straight out for human experimentation.

The appalling surge in brutality did, indeed, accelerate the research.

Sabretooth, Victor, had killed at least several hundred mutants over the past few years.

The number he had captured was greater still.

His animal instincts had completely taken over his mind. His black, tangled hair hung over his shoulders, and the claws on all ten fingers were stained with dark purplish blood that seemed impossible to wash away.

Steel Fist Fred was dead. Phantom John was dead.

Wade had been lured back to the base with the promise of a supposedly generous payment, then restrained and subjected to modifications.

Even Agent Zero, who had always loyally followed Stryker, had not escaped. His neural network had been stripped out on the operating table and implanted into Wade.

Wade now had a jumble of mutant gene abilities inside his body.

Super strength, speed, teleportation, healing, telekinesis, basic mind reading, optic blasts, superhuman reflexes...

More than thirty superpowers had been stitched into Wade.

But to Stryker's frustration, he had lost track of Brad and Logan. Without their genes, Deadpool was incomplete as the Ultimate Weapon X.

Without Logan's ridiculously powerful healing ability, Deadpool could not withstand the Adamanium Alloy Skeleton. The healing ability taken from Sabretooth was a little too weak.

Without Brad's Electronic Control, Deadpool could not freely enter the safe houses of leaders and dignitaries around the world.

His teleportation had a flaw: he could only set his destination somewhere his eyes could focus on.

Stryker was already beginning to lose his mind. His eyes were bloodshot, and he had become incredibly volatile.

"Bring me more mutants! Idiot!"

Sabretooth stood quietly inside an isolation room. Stryker watched him through one-way glass, issuing orders through a microphone connected directly to the room.

But Sabretooth did not move. Instead, he seemed to be struggling.

"Damn it. It's wearing off faster and faster."

Stryker cursed angrily, then ordered his men to inject Sabretooth with a liquid.

A mechanical arm extended from the ceiling, carrying a syringe full of cloudy yellow liquid.

It was a substance extracted from the spinal cord of his son, Mastermind. It worked extremely well and could simply be called Obedience Water.

The needle pierced the neck of the motionless Sabretooth. A while later, the isolation room opened, and Sabretooth charged out on all fours like a ferocious beast.

Half an hour later, Sabretooth suddenly stopped running. He opened his mouth, bared his fangs, and roared at his surroundings.

Logan stepped out from behind a tree, looking at Sabretooth with a complicated expression.

"Are you sure you want to take him on alone? You haven't fought in far too long, and your brother is a full-fledged wild beast now."

Brad's voice came through his earpiece.

Logan had not fully gotten back into being Wolverine yet. Faced with the increasingly ferocious Sabretooth, he was feeling a little uncertain himself. "I'm not so sure. But what about you? Are you sure that bodyguard of yours could really take ten of me at once?"

Before Brad could reply, Sabretooth had already tackled Logan to the ground. The earpiece fell out and vanished into the grass.

Brad and Silver Fox watched the two men battling in the distant woods... or rather, the man and the beast.

Silver Fox was worried, because Logan had been on the losing end from the start.

"Will Logan be all right?"

"Relax. Sabretooth can't break through adamanium alloy. If Logan doesn't get some of his fighting spirit back, he'll only be dead weight when we get to Stryker Base."

Brad stood with his arms folded, lifting and wagging one index finger. A red light flashed beneath the mask of the black-clad driver beside him. The driver took a few steps back, letting the woods conceal him.

The fight went on for over ten minutes. Sabretooth knocked Logan to the ground again, then drove a vicious claw strike toward his heart, unable to pierce his defenses.

Logan's face was covered in claw marks and bite wounds that had not yet healed. His eyes were now red, and the beating had finally sparked genuine fury.

With a roar, Logan kicked Sabretooth away and leaped onto him. Six bone claws and two iron fists rained blows onto Sabretooth's face.

Blood sprayed, staining the surrounding bushes and tree trunks scarlet.

Finally, a bone claw plunged deep into Sabretooth's eye. After Logan twisted it around, Sabretooth lay still.

Somewhat surprised, Brad walked over, signaling the black-clad driver lying in ambush nearby to pull back.

"I thought you wouldn't be able to handle him."

Wolverine panted heavily and took a long while to calm himself. "Without this suit, he probably would've killed me a dozen times first."
