Connors was certainly clever, but he could not possibly have had the connections to track every move of the foundation under Arno's control. If a thug working under Stark Industries possessed such extensive intelligence channels and such a broad perspective, how could he have failed to deal with a lone, outmatched Spider-Man?
Arno could not leave. Doing so might expose Brad and the coordinates of his current universe. A mere Battleworld could never satisfy the Iron Lord's appetite for conquest.
Even if Tony could not swallow that universe whole anytime soon, he would certainly cause Brad endless trouble.
