They whipped the people onto the city walls and made them help defend the city.

Many commoners standing atop the walls could not be of much use. They could only throw down stones and bricks.

They could not inflict much damage on the demons at all.

The commoners were in complete disarray. Quite a few were shoved off the walls and became food for the demons.

Before long, the demons had charged beneath the city walls and smashed through the gates.

The people of Star Pavilion used Demon Luring Incense to draw the demons at the gate away for a moment.

The dozen or so Innate Martial Artists sent to Iron Blood City trembled in terror at the sight and hid back inside the houses.

They would not ordinarily have been so cowardly. The crucial point was that after arriving in Taixu, all their cultivation had vanished, leaving them without the slightest sense of security.
