Cheng Tian picked a window with a relatively short line to buy his food. All he wanted now was to finish eating quickly and escape this place. Yet after he had waited ages, even after everyone at the front had bought their food and left, the woman ahead of him still stood with her head lowered, not moving at all.
"Miss over there," even the cafeteria lady sounded puzzled, "are you buying food? If not, please don't hold up the line behind you."
The woman ahead looked up at that, swung her hand behind her back, and simply let go of the red-and-blue handheld console she was holding. The Switch fell straight into the shadows and vanished.
"Huh?!" Cheng Tian rubbed his eyes, wondering if he had seen things. But the woman ahead had already walked up to the window, and he hurried after her.
"Would you like this Eight-Treasure Black Rice Congee?" the cafeteria lady asked. The woman in front shook her head.
"Then would you like this soy milk?" Only then did the woman nod, before pointing at the egg tarts beside it. Standing behind her, Cheng Tian could not see much of what she was doing. The cafeteria lady nodded and placed four egg tarts on the tray. "Seven yuan altogether." At that, the woman ahead went still again.
What was going on?
Cheng Tian was so hungry his stomach was practically stuck to his spine. Why was this woman still not buying her food? The cafeteria lady was puzzled too. "Miss? Is something wrong?"
Cheng Tian really could not wait anymore. He took out his phone and scanned the code to pay for the woman ahead of him. "Ma'am, I've paid for her. I'd like a serving of black rice congee and three pan-fried buns."
"No
