Cheng Tian's father waited and waited at the mine entrance. When he finally saw the son he had been missing jump out of a taxi, his eyes lit up, and he called out excitedly, "Xiao Tian! What brings you home?!"
Cheng Tian ran over and gave his father a big hug. "The Training Camp approved two weeks of leave for me, so I came back to see you." As he spoke, he took out the account sheets. "Here, Dad. This is what you wanted."
"Good lad." His father looked him up and down, nodding in satisfaction. "Looks like you've grown a lot."
"Of course!" Cheng Tian said excitedly. "My Pokémon have gotten a lot stronger!"
"That's good!"
Father and son chatted as they headed inside. Compared to last year, the mine had undergone a major transformation.
The office building, originally only three stories tall, had been replaced by a newly built five-story building that looked like a standalone company.
"We've upgraded the mine," his father said with a chuckle. "Come on, let me show you what it looks like now."
They took the elevator to the third floor, then pushed open the door to the office at the end of the corridor on the right and went inside.
"Old Ma."
"Old Cheng, you're finally here. Any later and I would've gone looking for you." Uncle Ma looked the same as ever, except his beard had grown a little longer. "Oh?" His eyes lit up when he saw Cheng Tian. "Your son's back?!"
"Hello, Uncle Ma!"
"Hello, hello!" Uncle Ma came over with a smile to greet him. "Xiao Tian, you have no idea. Ever since you left, your dad's been talking about you in the office all day long. He missed you terribly."
