"We can't drag this out any longer!" (We can't delay any longer!)
Miyamoto Sanya gritted her teeth. She was certainly not one to drag her feet, and she knew that if she did not act now, it really would be too late.
"Use Feint Attack!"
Magmar used Feint Attack again, but Togekiss was ready, pink light shining over its plump body.
Dazzling Gleam!
A vicious gleam flashed in Magmar's eyes. It knew this was its last chance!
Succeed or die trying!
Magmar's body blazed with dazzling light in midair, almost threatening to outshine the sun for an instant.
Cheng Tian's pupils suddenly dilated. He had not expected Magmar to actually dare use this move!
Overheat!
As a devastating Fire-type move, Overheat had a full 130 power! In such a scorching environment, its power would probably be even higher!
But this was not a move to use on a whim. Usually, neither Pokémon nor Trainers would use it unless they had reached the end of their rope.
The reason was simple: its side effects were far too severe!
Overheat: concentrates all the user's power to attack the opponent, but causes severe side effects, drastically lowering the user's Special Attack.
That was indeed the description given in the games, but in reality, it was rather conservative.
Using Overheat first required concentrating all of one's power and unleashing it from the inside out. During that process, violent Fire-type energy would scorch the body. If using Overheat really only lowered Special Attack, that would be fine, but if the body could not withstand it, the blood surging toward the heart and the backlash of Fire-type energy might leave the user unable to battle outright.
Inflicting a thousand wounds on the enemy while suffering eight hundred oneself-this was probably exactly what that meant...
