Hawaii Island was a famous tourist destination, but in the world of Pokémon, it was already under strict control. Getting onto the island was far harder than one might imagine. Sneaking in was out of the question; United States patrol personnel might shoot you dead on the spot. You had to pass an identity assessment and then pay an expensive fee to obtain three days of island access. Only then could you set foot on the island.
Everyone who came here knew perfectly well what the others were after. They certainly weren't here for sightseeing. They simply wanted to try their luck and see whether they could obtain a rare Z-Crystal.
The overall layout of the Hawaii Islands was much the same as in his previous life, with eight main islands and 124 smaller islands in total. The main difference, however, was that no humans lived in the Hawaii Islands now. They were entirely a paradise for wild Pokémon.
The reason was simple: for some unknown reason, the Pokémon of the Hawaii Islands were generally stronger overall than wild Pokémon elsewhere. Here, Pokémon above level 40 could be seen everywhere. There were even level 50 or level 60 Elite Four-level wild Pokémon, most of whom ruled over their own patches of land and territories.
This was the most interesting part. For some unknown reason, the Pokémon on the islands all seemed to understand human ways. After you defeated a powerful Pokémon, there was a chance that the Pokémon would give you an extremely rare Z-Crystal as a reward. No one knew why these Pokémon had Z-Crystals, or why defeating them earned you a reward. It seemed to be an unwritten rule on the islands. It was just that no one knew who had made it.
Even more surprising was that,
