At the foot of Mt. Coronet, outside a clothing store, Cynthia was paying while Cheng Tian was already fully bundled up, with so many layers of clothing piled onto him that he looked like a fat penguin.
"Say... why are we buying clothes?"
"It's very cold up on Mt. Coronet. Don't even think about crossing the mountain without proper protection," Cynthia explained with a smile. "Consider these clothes a gift from me, as an apology for what happened earlier."
As the regional Champion, Cynthia certainly wasn't short of money. Although Cheng Tian's Gengar had brought plenty of clothes, getting them out in his current state was inconvenient, so Cheng Tian accepted without any qualms.
"The Pokémon on the mountain have been getting very irritable lately. I don't know what's happened," the shop assistant kindly warned them before they left. "Please be careful, both of you."
"Okay! We will!"
Halfway up Mt. Coronet, vegetation was already quite sparse. Most of it consisted of alpine tundra plants covered in a layer of snow. The many Pokémon that could be seen everywhere in the forests below had vanished without a trace here.
"Hah... it's really cold..." Clouds of white vapor poured from Cheng Tian's mouth as he spoke, making him look as though he had used Lava Plume.
"We need to speed up. The temperature on the mountain will drop even further after dark, so we have to get over it before nightfall," Cynthia said. "Togekiss, use Agility, then Extreme Speed!"
The setting sun slowly sank from the sky, finally disappearing beyond the horizon. At last, while the clouds overhead were still painted gold, the plump Togekiss flew from the mountainside over towering Mt. Coronet.
The land below was already shrouded in shadow. A small town could be seen in the distance,
