Inside the research institute, Dr. Annu finally relaxed as she watched Omanyte gradually recover. Smiling, she played with the little Pokémon while speaking to Dr. Moroboshi, who was recording data nearby.
"That boy has been gone for three days now. Aren't you worried?"
"It's only been three days. Don't we always spend several days in the mountains whenever we go surveying?"
Dr. Moroboshi remained serious, focused on his work.
Dr. Annu picked up Omanyte and asked softly,
"Is there really any hope?"
Dr. Moroboshi's hands paused briefly before he replied in a low voice,
"You should know that we're both too strict about following the rules... We don't dare disturb the ancient ecosystem or venture deep into the haven where Ancient Pokémon live! We're afraid of destroying their last hope... That's our principle as scholars of ancient life... and the promise we made!"
Dr. Moroboshi stopped what he was doing and turned to look at his wife.
"Seeing Ancient Pokémon gradually awaken in this new era is exactly what we've hoped for. We all understand how great the difference is between Pokémon that revive naturally and those revived artificially!"
"Unfortunately, we can only make the most reasonable choices within the confines of the rules... Since we can't act freely, why not ask someone outside those rules to help us?"
"We don't dare, but he does. After all, he moves in different circles, so he isn't bound by the same rules!"
