A thousand years ago, at the height of Jujutsu Society, a Curse User named Ryomen Sukuna stood unrivaled in the world. He had two faces and four arms, and though he looked like a demonic god, he was a real person, known to others as the "King of Curses."
As death approached, he placed a special secret technique and Binding Vow on the twenty fingers of his four arms, allowing them to carry his soul and cursed energy from a thousand years ago into the present.
The cursed energy contained in a single finger was enough to create a special grade cursed spirit if a cursed spirit swallowed it, and the special grade cursed spirit before Chinatsu housed one of Sukuna's Fingers.
This cursed spirit must have already been special grade before swallowing one of Sukuna's Fingers. It hasn't reached the level of the disaster cursed spirits that will appear in the future, but it's no longer at the bottom of special grade, either.
Chinatsu calmly analyzed the situation. Honestly, she both loved and hated the predicament she was in.
She loved that this cursed spirit had far exceeded her expectations. Not only was it special grade, it also housed one of Sukuna's Fingers, making it well worth taking down.
She hated that it was so powerful. Unless she could push past her limits, there was a very real chance this would end disastrously.
While Chinatsu was analyzing the situation, the beastlike creature braced all four legs and pushed off the ground. Baring its sharp, bloodstained claws and fangs, it charged ferociously at her.
This time, Chinatsu did not use Blue from a distance. Instead, she wrapped Blue around her fists and threw a swift punch at the oncoming cursed spirit.
Bam!!!
Chinatsu's fist struck the cursed spirit squarely in the face. Enhanced by Blue, the blow hit like a speeding truck, instantly mangling its already hideous face and sending it flying.
After tumbling across the ground several times, the cursed spirit finally came to a stop. The damage to its face began regenerating at a speed visible to the naked eye.
Watching this, Chinatsu's lips twitched slightly. She did not know whether to laugh or cry.
*My damage output really... **isn't enough!!!***
Perhaps she was imagining it, but Chinatsu actually saw disdain, even mockery, on the beastlike cursed spirit's face.
Cursed spirit: Th-that's it?
Chinatsu took a deep breath and clenched her hands, wrapping Blue around both fists.
One lacked damage but had maxed-out defense.
The other had virtually no damage but was absurdly tanky.
Within the cramped confines of the abandoned mine, Chinatsu and the cursed spirit engaged in fierce hand-to-hand combat. She knocked it flat again and again, only for it to scramble right back up.
As the cycle repeated endlessly, Chinatsu's face nearly twisted into something resembling a cursed spirit's. Waves of turmoil surged through her once-calm heart.
The cursed spirit was clearly the one being sent flying every time, yet watching it get straight back up after she hit it with everything she had left Chinatsu feeling as though she were punching cotton. It was maddening.
Just as her anger boiled over and she was about to unleash ten blasts of Blue in a row to settle things with the cursed spirit, a sudden wave of dizziness washed over her, making her freeze.
That brief moment of weakness nearly allowed the charging cursed spirit to land a swipe. She decisively activated short-range Teleportation, putting distance between them.
She raised a hand to her head, her eyes trembling slightly as she panted heavily.
The Six Eyes gave a jujutsu sorcerer extraordinarily precise control over cursed energy, minimizing waste. Combined with the fact that cursed energy gradually recovered over time, this meant that, in theory, a sorcerer with the Six Eyes would never run out of cursed energy.
The price instead was mental exhaustion.
Chinatsu let out a breath. Her expression grew grave, and calm returned to her eyes.
She could actually choose to run. By repeatedly using short-range Teleportation, she could easily leave the abandoned mine and ignore this unkillable cockroach.
But Chinatsu did not want to run.
She could escape now, but she would face far more difficult situations in the future. She had the option to run this time, but would she always?
All she faced now was a special grade cursed spirit that could not even use a domain. If she chose to flee over a setback like this, she would instinctively lean toward that same choice whenever she faced trouble in the future.
Chinatsu kept her breathing steady and rhythmic, striving to focus her mind and reach that fleeting instant through absolute calm...
Seeing Chinatsu suddenly go still, the cursed spirit tilted its head in confusion. At first, it thought she was setting a trap to lure it in, but a moment later, it tossed that thought aside.
It had some intelligence, but not much.
The beastlike cursed spirit lifted its head and let out a series of chilling howls. Its normally invisible cursed energy swelled visibly as it poured out of its body.
This strike would decide the fight!
Bam!!!
The beastlike cursed spirit pushed off with all four legs and charged at Chinatsu again, moving as fast as a black meteor.
Chinatsu, meanwhile, remained motionless, as though she had left her fate to chance and was simply waiting to die.
Of course, that was not the case.
There was a peculiar phenomenon in Jujutsu Society: when the gap between the release of cursed energy and a physical impact was less than 0.000001 seconds, space-time at the point of impact would distort.
This phenomenon dramatically increased the power the blow would normally produce, generally raising it to the power of 2.5.
Such an increase was terrifying, and for that very reason, no one in Jujutsu Society could deliberately produce this peculiar phenomenon.
But if someone managed to land it, black light resembling lightning would flash within the space distorted by the collision of cursed energy and physical force.
Just as the beastlike cursed spirit's outstretched claws were about to reach Chinatsu, her already clenched fist tightened further, and her azure eyes blazed with dazzling light.
Whoosh!
Chinatsu aimed at the face of the beastlike cursed spirit charging straight at her and threw a punch. Unlike her usual strikes, which were simply coated in Blue, this blow sent streaks of pitch-black yet dazzling lightning bursting outward.
[Black Flash]!!!
Amid that dazzling black lightning, Chinatsu's fist did not send the cursed spirit flying. In that fleeting instant, it had already torn the creature apart.
Sukuna's Finger, which had remained undigested inside the cursed spirit, flew out and landed on the ground beside Chinatsu's feet.
Silence returned to the abandoned mine...
