The following week was a trip that truly belonged to the two of them.
Little by little, they filled in the memories missing from places they had often visited on business.
Only when Fujii Ayabumi stood at their door for the last time did Miwa Chisei realize how quickly those two weeks had passed.
But they still had a lifetime ahead of them.
Satoru Gojo wheedled Miwa Chisei into wearing a white dress, then buttoned her white coat himself.
Miwa Chisei looked at his matching white coat and reached out to stroke it.
"Did you buy matching outfits just for us?"
"They look amazing, don't they?"
Miwa Chisei nodded, then watched as Satoru Gojo continued to dawdle, holding something.
"If we don't get off soon, the ship will leave again."
Miwa Chisei joked casually, but Satoru Gojo kept dragging his feet. Only after Fujii Ayabumi received a phone call did he leisurely hand their suitcase to an attendant.
They took the elevator from the sixth floor to the first. Everything was quiet, as though all the other passengers had already left.
Then Satoru Gojo suddenly took the sunglasses off his nose and placed them on Miwa Chisei's.
His sunglasses were specially made, completely black and opaque. Anyone without the six eyes would be unable to see through them.
"Satoru?"
Bewildered, Miwa Chisei held on to Satoru Gojo beside her, but he only smiled.
"Don't take them off. There's something I want to show you."
His voice was so gentle that Miwa Chisei could only obediently do as he said.
It was a bright, sunny day; she could tell from the sunlight slipping in around the edges of the sunglasses.
They seemed to have reached the steps leading off the ship. Miwa Chisei felt the sea breeze gently lift her hair.
