With Mitsuri and Chinatsu staying in the Swordsmith Village for an extended visit, the village's safety had improved by far more than a little. Its granary, however, was now in danger.
To keep its location secret, the Swordsmith Village produced as much of its own food as possible. Its self-sufficient system was so well developed that it could not only feed every villager but also lavish hospitality on visiting members of the Demon Slayer Corps.
But when that "lavish hospitality" met Chinatsu and Mitsuri, whether the granary's reserves could hold out was another matter entirely...
A few days later.
Chinatsu and Mitsuri walked along a road in the Swordsmith Village, chatting casually. The more Chinatsu learned about Mitsuri, the more she felt that Mitsuri was truly an innocent, adorable girl, and the more she regretted her and the Serpent Hashira's deaths in the original story.
"Chinatsu, let me tell you something embarrassing. I used to feel insecure about my hair and strength. Someone once told me, 'The only things that could marry you are a bear, a pig, or a cow. And that hair of yours-just thinking about our children inheriting it fills me with despair.'
"After hearing that, I felt terribly insecure. I deliberately hid my strength and dyed my hair black, all so I could find someone to marry. Looking back, I was so silly."
As Mitsuri spoke, she even imitated the man who had insulted her. Although these were embarrassing moments from her past, she had completely come to terms with them. She could even discuss them freely as light after-dinner conversation.
Hearing this, Chinatsu raised a finger and said earnestly, "Yes, you really were silly. Beauty shouldn't be confined to a definition in the first place. Those men who criticized you were absolute fools."
"Hehe..."
